Gilmour has/had an uncanny talent to play slow, simple solos and blow people's minds with them. Life long PF fan here, so I'm not knocking them at all! "Time" is another one you might want to check out. It's not that hard to play, but it can sound amazing. If you don't mind *only* playing the solo on your electric (and sitting around for the other 5 minutes or so or grabbing an acoustic), "Mother"? Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-IV is a load to remember but also only has a couple of 'tricky' bits. Keep up the the good work, my man!

I really struggle remembering long solos. So always wind up improvising

She was also a great drummer. Played drums on all their records and, in the early days, played drums and sang live. Her voice was like velvet.
Very true. there's some great live footage of her playing the drums if anybody needs to see it to know.

Guthrie Govan's solo on "Drive Home" by Steven Wilson. No list could be complete without this masterpiece!

Thats a brilliant solo. Played on a guitar that wasnt even his, and halfway through the solo a string or two broke or something or other went wrong so he had to adapt in full flight. Steven Wilson explains it in an interview.

Best way. Then people hear your take on the solo. We used to play Comfortably Numb and I played the first few "signature" bars pretty much the same as DG. I would then cut loose with my own interpretation, changing pickups to add mood. DG basically does the same when playing it live. It has the "greatest hits" from the original, but then lots of new bits....much longer too.

If you thought that was Melissa Etheridge, how about this?:

I remember back in '75 when these two albums were out at the same time.

It has to be Gilmour's smooth vibrato. It's just so pleasurable to listen to. Mother was the first solo I ever learned. It isn't hard but getting his feel for those bends is in my opinion.

Dogs is my favorite Floyd solo. There are too many good ones though.

I literally can't think of what my favorite solo is. There are lots I like, but I don't think I have a favorite. Some are,

I'm guessing this can also give people an understanding of the tones and styles I like. :shred2:

Its a travesty that Ronnie and Viv couldnt get along and work shit out. So many great riffs and songs from them as a team.
Ronnie should just paid Viv what he deserved it would have been as simple as that , big error on Robbie’s part . But hey that’s what happens when you let your Mrs manage you , look at the Ozzy and Jake piss take thanks to the ‘ lovely ‘ Sharon Osbourne .

I really like it when Steve Lukather would go on solos that had me convinced he'd lost his mind and was trying to find it somewhere on the fretoard. Especially in that period of time where his solo tone was super high gain, effected, and based on his Mesa/Boogie amps.
