"Take Me Home, Country Roads"

Almost heaven,
West Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Shenandoah River
Life is old there, older than the trees, younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze

Country roads, take me home to the place I belong

West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

Take it, Rick! ...

All my memories gather round her, miner's lady, stranger to blue water
Dark and dusty, painted on the sky, misty taste of moonshine, teardrop in my eye

Everybody sing! ...

Country roads, take me home to the place I belong

West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

I hear her voice in the morning hour, she calls me, the radio reminds me of my home far away
And driving down the road I get a feeling that I should have been home yesterday, yesterday

Sing! ...

Country roads, take me home to the place I belong

West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

Country roads, take me home to the place I belong

West Virginia, mountain mamma, take me home, country roads

Take me home, down country roads
Take me home, down country roads

Rick, just by reading this post, you are now infected w/ a virus.

This virus runs on an honor system. You must just believe that you are infected & you must pay the author a ransom.

In this case, the ransom is a Hamer guitar... :)...

In the premise that you do not pay the ransom, I order you to immediately delete all the files off of your C drive.

Your honor depends on it. I'm counting on you!

Ball Mason jars and an All American 930 canner and some sweat will put the food shortage scene on the back seat big time. Just gotta think ahead and plan.

That whole scenario in the OP sounds like a scam unfortunately. But typically the scammers ask for more than 70 bucks when they are holding your personal info for ransom. Anyway, someone managed to hack me last year. My three email addresses, my Microsoft account, Amazon - they had access to everything. It was creepy and incredibly violating. It took me a solid month to wrestle control back and undo the damage.

Lesson learned from this and all should heed this warning: Do NOT use the same passwords and log in names across multiple accounts or emails.

They string you along. $70 is only a starting point. Never pay one penny in ransom. Accept that it's too late, it's your fault, start over and don't screw up again.

I was in the Cub Scouts too when I was 12. Troop 54. We learned how to survive in the woods. You know - tying rope knots, sharpening a 3" pocket knife, identifying plants, bear tracks, making a squirrel trap, building a luxury home out of pine branches and starting a fire with a spark igniter. It was a lot of fun.

Now let's get back to realitry, shall we?

Just saw and skimmed through the thread. In the case of Yahoo, if your ex won't help, you're pretty much screwed.

As far as your computer is concerned, I would toss it in the trash and build a new one custom to your needs. (I can help source parts needed.) Today's CPU's, GPU's, RAM and motherboards are so much faster and stable. Also, Windows 10 is the current supported Windows OS, so security is a large issue on older OS's.

If you want to keep your current computer, this is what I would do:

Download and run Malwarebytes.
Download and run Kaspersky anti-virus.
Download and run Avast anti-virus.

This should clean up any virus/malware. Make sure you do a boot time scan as some virus/malware load at this time.

Motherboard BIOS - can become infected With a virus. (This is another reason to upgrade the computer. New mobo's have better security.) If you have a BIOS utility, scan the BIOS.

The next step is to back up your documents (pic's, vid's, documents, etc.) to a second drive and do a virus scan on it. Remove the drive.

Because you have an old version of Windows, wiping the drive would remove the updated security which you can't get back. (It may be possible to find the security patches, but you will have to search the MS website, know exactly which security patches you need and hope they are still available.) If you choose to upgrade to Windows 10, you can do a full wipe of the drive.

If keeping the old OS, get CCleaner and do a deep clean. Remove software that is no longer used as they may run in the background and consume resources. Clean the registry and run a defragmentation program. Make sure all the devices that need them have updated drivers.

Let me know if you have any questions and I will help the best I can.

Have you tried buying anything right now? Nothing is available and what is goes for stupid amounts of money. Our friend Rick needs some simple repair love right now. :yesway:
