This brings up a very serious subject that if society takes a crap and technology becomes useless or the electrical infrastructure fails or is destroyed, soooooo many people are going to be helpless without a clue as to how to survive. Society has become so dependent on technology, infrastructure, electricity, stores etc etc that without those majority of people will have no idea how to survive.

I don't like sport hunting or killing animals but I do want to start learning and hunting for the sake of the skill. Maybe I'm getting old, maybe I am becoming more wise but I want to start learning more basic survival skills of yore. I want to learn to make cellers and learn to can and jar food, dehydrate meats and other goods. Premative water collecting and filtering, learning to build shelters, stitching and sowing, growing plants and vegetables... All the stuff 90% of the US probably have no clue about and if sht hits the fan... everyone is screwed.

70 bucks is cheap. Any local computer tech who specializes in recovery is going to charge more than that just to do a full diagnostic.

Do as I do. Keep a full copy of all passwords...STORED OFFLINE. Update it every time you add or change an account password. Be religious about that.

I'm independent of having to ask others for help with a PC. I AM my own IT department, and though I'm not a hacker I can do some really devious tricks to any computer I get my hands on if its owner does something I just can't let slide. And what I can do, would stump most "computer repairmen" for DAYS.

I agree, ALWAYS save passwords to an external drive. Also, anything you want to keep that is important, save to an external drive.
