Which guitars do you play more at home? Cheap? Expensive?

Overall, it's my most expensive Guitar. It is my Gibson LP R8, that cost me slightly less than 4k Euros (Kinda amazing, considering what even the plainest plaintops cost now). I'm not a rich man by any stretch, and I saved up long for that one. Out of the many Guitars I tried in that Price Range, this was the one that really spoke to me. We all know it's not always the case, but on that Guitar, Gibson got it right. It was set up very good from day one, and it really resonates so well, it never goes out of tune. A very close second is my Mockingbird (MIK, ~1700€). I almost alternate 50/50 between these two, the R8 has slightly more playing time, since it resides in the living Room. I must admit my other Guitars don't get played frequently enough.
Pics or it's a pink Epiphone Hello Kitty model. :yesway:

Is it a Sunrise Tea burst? Mine's a 2011 R8 Sunrise, looks just like yours. Everyone needs a plaintop:

I have an Ibanez RG as well (RG470). Really good guitar for the money. I got tired of trems and never really used the middle single coil so I blocked the trem, disconnected the single coil and screwed it all the way down so it doesn’t get in the way of my picking. I swapped out the stock pups for a set of DiMarzio John Petrucci’s (LiquiFire and Crunchlab) and wired in a new 5 way switch. For my tastes anyhow the guitar went from good to wow! 😀
Nice!!! Mine is a RG470 as well. I did a full set up on it and ordered the Cruncy Pats. I also removed the middle pickup because I would hit it with my pick more often than not. I tried lowering the middle as far as it would go but was still not enough. I actually didn’t want to remove it because it provided some great tones that are very different from the typical 2 humbucker guitars. It plays excellent, sounds good enough for my ears being a bedroom rockstar ha ha!!!

Beautiful Guitar! 😍
The Color is called "Washed Cherry", but it has faded a bit since I got it (it's a 2017 model). Under the pickup Rings it's visible that it was a darker hue initially, it has turned more into a brown color. I don't know, Gibson Reissue specs seem to change constantly, and maybe they changed the lacquer to some stuff that fades more.

Define cheap and expensive.
My cheapest guitar a 1963 Fender Musicmaster $5.00 at early 70's yard sale. In the middle of a resto now. Don't play.
Next is 2000 MIM Fender Strat. $200. new Modded with Callaham, Sperzel, Seymore Duncan, CTS, CRL, Switchcraft. Don't play much.
Cheap may not be cheap in the long run.
I'm mainly a Les Paul guy, and they are $$$, for me.
But like to keep my tonal options diverse, for tracking purposes.
To be honest. I mostly play at home anymore.
So I mostly play my Martin OM-28.
So I have to say.
Expensive.

Interesting question.

I find the guitars I play the most are my two '76 LP Deluxe's and a '73 L6 Custom.

Honestly couldn't tell you if these were the most expensive guitar (certainly not the cheapest) of mine. But I do go through phases where I rotate through stuff. But thee are constants.

Having said that, I have a Squire Silver Series Tele that is always up to be played. Cost doesn't come into it. Different guitars seem right at different times.

During the week, I do most of my woodshedding on my Ibanez RG through either my Bogner Mini Ecstasy or Katana. I bought it cheap and replaced the pickups and pots with some GFS Crunchy Pats. Weekends I have more time and play my Wolf LP and LTD Eclipse through my tube amps…

Update:
As I mentioned above, I’ve been doing the majority of playing on my Ibanez. Well, yesterday, I noticed that I’m getting some fret wear on it and I’m very disappointed this is happening with it not being a year old. I’m aware some of it can be due to really digging in but I’m leaning more towards poor quality fret wire was used in making this particular guitar as my other guitars are older and I played the hell out of them before the Ibanez came along and they still look new. So now I’m gonna look for a replacement neck if I can find one reasonably priced. I’m not throwing any more money at this guitar. It will become wall art at some point if I can’t find one. I’ve had several Ibanez RG’s over the years, and really dig the wizard neck, but I’ll be damed if I buy another one. I got it pretty cheap when it was on sale and I get the “you get what you pay for” thing, but I don’t expect that from a major manufacturer. So, this evening I ordered a replacement for my daily beater guitar. If it turns out to be decent, I’ll keep it. That purchase could have been another Ibanez, but it wasn’t…

Thanks for the suggestion. I’d thought about that as well but the prices that I’m seeing for a re fret are at or more than I paid for the guitar new. I dig it, but not that much if you know what I mean. I think over time I should be able to find a replacement neck at a price I’d be willing to pay. If not, no biggie.

I used to be a real Gibson fan and had a bunch of different guitars from them. I still have a couple of Les Pauls Over the years I began to realize that they’re built from a Mahogany/Maple combination and other companies make guitars using these woods. So for me, at the end of the day I like the sound of a Mahogany guitar with JB, SD, or something similar.

One of the best Les Paul guitars I ever heard was a white LPJ back when they came out with that line. I should have bought it but didn’t.

Because of all this, I find I play my mid range priced guitars more, for every occasion. They have similar tonality, better fit and finish than something that is cheap, and I don’t really care if they get marked up compared to my more expensive Gibson guitars.

Depends on my mood, really. But most of the time, it's my Harley Benton LP JR copy and SG Jr copy. Or the SX Tele copy.
All three sound and play well, so I don't feel like I'm struggling with a cheap guitar. And if I bang them up, drop them, whatever - not a big deal.

I used to thinknof my acoustic the same away (an old Selmer). In fact, I repaired the headstock with JB weld. It's been pretty beat up. Just found out these were hamdbuilt in Japan and are actually worth money 😬
Eh, oh well. It's a player instrument, not an investment.

All my guitars are hand made, by me, for me. So...cheap in terms of parts and materials cost relative to the quality of guitar. Expensive in terms of total labor cost invested. My best efforts should be competitive with the higher end Gibsons and PRS standard USA models for practical valuation terms.

I find I strongly gravitate to the middle ground. I don't like super cheap or super expensive guitars. I tend to play mid level guitars with nice upgrades.

Currently I am doing almost all of my playing on 3 guitars. A LP type clone, an 80's MIJ Strat and a 2010's MIA Strat. All three currently have SD antiquity pickups of some sort by coincidence or not. The reason for two Strats is because one is in the family room while everything else is in a music room. If I lived in a one room house I would probably just play one Strat and one LP 99% of the time.

I play all of my guitars - about 10 of them - but I gravitate most often to my Squiers: a J Mascis Jazzmaster, a Classic Vibe Mustang, and a Standard Strat, upgraded with American Professional pups and electronics. All have vintage C necks and play great. The Mustang usually gets pulled out when I'm struggling with something new. The shorter scale is most forgiving to my old hands. My Gibson Les Paul Classic Player Plus is the other guitar in heavy rotation, but my most expensive guitar gets too little play - a GLP 50's standard - I have trouble with the 50's neck.

All of them are out on hangers or stands, so it's easy to grab whatever I want.

My Harley Benton SC-Jr is the one that sits next to my desk. I have an SC-Custom that lives at the practice space.

I have other, even nicer guitars, but those two get the most miles.

I play them based upon ease of play and the tone I get.

I find my LP the hardest to play so it is usually in its case.

The rest are out and get played, but I mainly play and practice with my USA Fender delux Strat, fitted with Seymour Duncan Pickups. That is my desert island axe.

If I am going somewhere that my kit might get bashed, I take my Telecaster. It is real nice and professionally modded. But I don’t care for Telecasters so worry about it less.
