Hi all, I'm a lucky howner of a couple of vintage 2036B, I used them with my band when I was very young and then I forgot them leaving them sleep in the garage for more than 20 years. Now I'm not playing anymore and I don't want to sell them. Maybe I'm crazy... But my dream is to have them in the living room and use them to listen music using an apropriate amplifier. Unfortunately I'm not an expert and I need some suggestions. Can you help me? Thanks in advance

marshall-2035-b-205283.jpg The 2036B is a rare cabinet. Google tells me it was sold as a "lead/organ" cabinet. But they made similar cabs sold as PA cabs. The ads suggest late '60s or '70s.

I can't find official details about any of them, other than the tweeter being a compression driver, not just a piezo.

One owner reported that his came with Celestion G12-H30's, and seemed to say you can turn off the horn to use it as a guitar cabinet.

'70s PA and organ stuff wasn't hi-fi by today's standards. But some of it is pleasant to listen to even if it doesn't have accurate frequency response.

Best thing to do is just hook them up to a stereo and see if you like how they sound. You may be happy.

If not, they're so cool looking you could use them as stands for modern speakers.

If they really do have old G12-H30's, those speakers are worth more separately than the cabs are worth. So selling the speakers and using the cabs as stands isn't a ridiculous idea.

Do the cabs have any labels on them indicating impedance and power handling?

What sort of input jacks do they have?

What sort of hi-fi system do you have?

You may need special cables to connect the cabs to the hi-fi. Can you solder connections to make the cables yourself?

Sorry if I'm answering with this delay but I lost the link of the discussion and I recovered only now. I decided to clean/restore the 2 cabinets and after this I will decide if I will use them or if I will sell. I can put a couple of pictures of the interior to answer to the questions regarding speaker and connection. Someone knows which could be a fair value of these cabinets?

Double check this because I may be wrong, but I think the date codes on the speakers are "GC2(blur)", and if I'm reading Celestion's chart correctly that's July 1970 (20th - 29th day).

G12M-25 75Hz speakers are highly sought after. They look super clean. If in good working order they're each worth hundreds of dollars.

You might start a second thread asking specifically about the speakers. Something like "are these 1970 greenbacks". There are several people here who can identify them for sure. (If I'm wrong about them being 1970 and they're newer replacements they might be worth much less.)

Hard to say how much value the cabinets add to the speakers. They're rare but not sought after iconic legends.
