The older I get the more I try to take care of my hands. I quit snowboarding 3 years ago as I kept fucking up my thumbs when I'd wipe out. That year it was about 6 weeks before I could fret for more than a few minutes. No mo' o' dat!

This will expose the chassis sides - I'll need to do some measuring - as I don't think it's a viable design yet.

Not sure.... i almost cut it off from where the nail starts. Happened 5 weeks ago and almost all the stitches have been removed. I have two metal pins as i cut the tip of the last falanx on my left hand. Thank god im right handed.... sucks that i was making progress at Kossoff's vibrato..... kinda hard to do at the moment

Got the top's diagonals cut but it just didn't look like it would span to the corners.

So I rigged up a template to get that visual warm fuzzy before I start gluing.

It worked centered up where the faceplate jack vertical would be - a sigh of relief. Now for clamp porn.

Only one pic tonight as a new shaping tool came in and I just had to use it on another project.

Tomorrow evening will be rough cutting to size and then fitting in the pieces that will get dyed blue.

You know that saying measure twice, cut once. Here's a corollary - 'Check your !!*&!$%^ drawing THREE TIMES before you pull measurements to cut with. Luckily, I did some checking and the height of the faceplate was 0.5" too tall. Mumble, mumble, power words, more mumble.,,

Fixed. Unfortunately, it burned up cutting time so I only got the pieces roughed in.

Here is the face plate to be blue - I'll cut four pieces from this - with some noice figure.

I also decided to make the bottom solid maple to not waste time fitting bits and making fake fingers.

I had to sand some warp / cup out of the fiddleback maple I'm using for the blue bits. Cutting the angles on the two top pieces for the faceplate.

Glued up.

On to the two angled plates for the top.

Had to mod the angle jig to cut the bigger pieces

Glued.

Then the wheels came off the buggy...

Got out the shooting board and cut the faceplate height.

I was so pleased with how that worked I went after the top...

Which is supposed to be angled at 15.5°...

Mumble, mumble...

After contemplating adding a couple of bits to make it a square Jack top like the last one or making a new angled top a third option crept in - glue the [email protected]%&**&&#@!! thing back together and see what it looks like with the angle cut. Best case it works - worse case it's wall art.

Nothing like a spectacular disaster!

Yep. The 'art' of woodworking isn't perfection - it's artfully fixing the inevitable f*ckups.

So back on the shooting board it goes,

And so far it is still not a burnt pile of ash!

Currently trimming up the bottom, sides and top for finger joints.

Finger joints cut and the thickness milled to .750" - man that fiddleback maple is HARD.

Glued up and rough sanded.

Did some experimenting with the sapphire blue to see how visible the reglued blue bits are. One side you can't see anything the other is a fine line. It will be interesting to see what pops when its lacquered.

Tomorrow will be edge round and perhaps final sand.
