I was sitting at the trading desk (was a stock trader at the time) getting ready for the day. It was a Tuesday, they shut down the NYSE for the rest of the week, my younger brother lost one of his oldest friends that day....and I lost a few friends also....

R.I.P Fred Varacchi...He was an American success story, grew up in my town, went to St Eds grammar school and then on to Syosset HS, he went on to president of E-Speed, he was an instant 20-30 millionaire after the IPO, had beautiful daughters and a house in Greenwich CT. He was generous to a fault, always gave away his money to those in need.

All gone in an instant....my Mom LOVED him, cried for some time afterwards....

RIP Fred, we ALL miss you!

RIP Sterge
RIP Josh Vitale

Feels like it happened yesterday, NYC is quiet today........

Sorry for the rant, still hurts......

A guy I know from another forum lived in NYC the day it happened. Worked in Manhattan. He saw the second plane hit as his office went outside after the first one struck. While standing in watching, something hit him in the face (literally) from all the raining debris from the two impacts. This, is a passenger seat info card from American Airlines Flight 11, torn and burned. He still has it.

I think my most favorite was when Nick got his butt kicked and tossed from the train. He said: "I won't get fooled like that again." He didn't say he wouldn't get fooled again, just not like that again.

Great stories . . I'm gonna get my EH books out tonight . . . with extensive margin notes.

Thanks for posting that!

I knew people on pills, blaming 9/11? They had no connection. I saw HEAVY flag-waving for 6 months, then goodbye. It was a tragedy. The way we treated American Indians was a tragedy. History is tragic. I prefer to live my life. Getting bent over enemies is tiring. Money+hate rule this world. Wait, this is a political thread,,,,,,why am I here? Politics is more fake than pro rassling. Blackie this is a HOT thread,,,,,I'm going back to JimJims SAFE thread.

:lol::lol:

No lightening rods with RJJ None of the time!

I'm discussing Nick Adams further down in this electric thread . . . maybe that will keep things on an even keel?

It was the middle of the night here, I remember waking up and seeing the plane hit the building on the TV in my room. Thought to myself well this will be on in the morning, so I went back to sleep.

I enjoyed reading that timeline of events, it raises a lot of questions. I'm sure a lot would be done differently if it were to ever happen again. A lot would have been learnt,,,,.'"

Peace

.. well the day is almost over ..

.. There are many things running through my mind in regards to the whole thing .. the big picture so to speak .. of what came before and led up to the event and all that has now come to pass afterward ..

.. for make no mistake .. we were not attacked out of the blue because a group hated us for our freedom or way of life ..

.. you have to go back all the way to the end of ww2 to start to understand certain things ..

I had arrived the day before in Orlando Florida on vacation with my family so we were in the Disney Magic Kingdom when this all went down on the teacup ride line. All of a sudden the power went off in the park and over the PA system - "Ladies and gentleman, boys and girls, please head to the nearest exit. Disney is closed due to circumstances beyond our control". This message played over and over as the people made a mass exit. People were talking about what was going on and rumors about the Trade Center buildings collapsing and our country being under attack, it was a very scary moment. Everyone leaving at the same time it took like 3 hours in crowds to get on a bus back to the hotel. This was the first day of our trip and everything was closed the next day so everybody hung out at the hotels, they did reopen all the parks the day after. I spent the rest of the week trying to figure out how to get home since the airports were closed, couldnt get a car, a train, nothing. By the end of the week I was able to get us on a train, Amtrack took our plane tickets in lieu of payment. It was a 24 hour train ride back to NJ with a train switch in Washington DC. We lived at the shore with a clear view of NYC, it was really weird to look at the empty skyline and not see those towers in the distance any more. Rest in piece to all those inocent souls that perished that day.

George Carlin "Politics is the entertainment wing of government".

I was getting ready to go into work on the Jimmy Neutron movie in Plano. When I eventually went in, there was a big meeting and the director decided to move ahead with the days work. Some folks with a connection to the event left, but we went back to work, monitoring the situation.
