Hi All,

I've built an SLO50 clone last year and now I'm thinking of building a JMP 2203.

I'm thinking on ordering the parts from Valvestorm, Classic tone for OT, PT, and MM choke.

I was also thinking about using a PCB instead of PTP....trying to get as close to the sound and look of a JMP.

Problem with the PCB is it will be difficult for me to put the right parts on the board since most of the plans are PTP based. These board also have additional spots for components that will be empty which will confuse me even more.

Although I do have pretty good board pics on this site.

Do you guys think these parts will give me an accurate sound and look of a JMP?

Suggestions as all welcome.

nice thing about a pcb is that you should be able to use radial caps (as long as you have the correct lead spacing) which tend to be cheaper

Thar is no difference in sound . PCB is not a bad way to go on that build if it comes with a wire lay out .good pics help to

Good luck with Classictone, they just closed down. But it’s easier to work on turret boards. I have PCB and turret board JCM’s and they are practically identical in tone.

If you think that you might mod or tweak later a turret board is much more sensible.

Also what is more accurate in tone than a turret board Marshall (although a well designed and executed pcb will sound fine).

Thanks everyone,

So right now I'm just "thinking" about it.

Like I said, I've built an SLO50, I have a Peavey 5150...so what's left?

I've had a DSL50 which was my first "real" amp. I had that a-ha moment when I first heard it..so this is what it's supposed to sound like.

Then a JVM410h, then JVM410c...I keep changing my mind...

Now that I'm older my thought is...shouldn't everyone own a Marshall?

It's hard to find a JMP 100 master volume that hasn't been molested and if you do they are quite expensive...so I figured I can at least look into building one.

The 2203 is a fine amp. Very versatile. Go for it.........with turret board!
