There's a Marshall 2555x Silver Jubilee (reissue) with its matching 4x12 cab (slanted) for 1.6k USD, should I go for it?

Local? The matching cab may be the real opportunity given no shipping hassles.
It's in another city, I have someone who can go there and serve as a middleman so I don't get scammed and ship it to me. I already received a video from the seller checking that it's working fine.

Why do you say that the cab would be the real opportunity? (just curious)

Given current circumstances, cabs aren’t even on the table for shipping or you will pay through the nose if they are. What absolutely sucks about 2555s is how ugly they are as a light gray head unit sitting on a black/other cab. They are striking by themselves in stack form, but not at all mixed, which was why I appreciated my Black/gold 2550.

So you have 2 things going:

1. A relatively new and clean 1960A going for $500 in this dogshit economy.

2. An impossible-to-find-locally matching cab that will have more value (to a much smaller market) in the future.

A $1,100 2555X is nothing to sneeze at itself assuming no nasty surprises, but that’s why the cab is more significant, IMO.

Decent price. Excellent amp, excellent cab. The cab weighs a fkuking ton. Killer U.K.-made speakers to boot (you should try to confirm that what's in the cab is stock, pictured below).

Go for it.

I read that those Marshall/Celestion G12 Vintage are like the first version of the Vintage 30, right?

Cool!
What has been your experience with it? Any details you'd like to share with a possible owner of one?
Different but good if they are your thing. They have more gain than the classics. They are also smoother and less bright, which some consider a preference, whereas others prefer the more open/aggressive nature of the single channel lead Marshalls.

On that note, these are single channel amps despite having the ability to switch, IME. Unless you are the weird minority whose compromise dialing of both channels just happens to be “your sound,” dialing the lesd channel right comes at the cost of the clean. And vice-versa, it has good options and versatility, just not live.

When you really get to know the amp....it is amazing how versitile it is. This is not a put everything at noon amp. There are 3 different master volumes basically that you can set differently to get vastly different sounds. Most folks have issues with this. I own a Mesa mk v.....so this is child's play for me....lol

The Output master needs to be at 6 or above to get the amp to its sweet spot....don't worry this is about as loud as 1.5 on my 2204's master...........use the input gain to set how much overall gain the amp has......on 4 it equates to a stock 2203, on 7 and above.....80s metal heaven. You use the lead master to BALANCE the loudness of the clean and od channels....so you can use it as a 2 channel live. Also some folks put eq in loop and that opens up another world.....I have not needed this personally.

The more I use mine the more I like it, records like a champ.

Overall, right up there with the very best amps Marshall made....imho. 17854804_10154862353576917_6588067309824978579_o.jpg

Dude I have read so much on that topic that I don't know what is what anymore. You won't find a gear topic with more conflicting info than this one.

All I know is... I have the same exact rig you have your eye on and it's just killer, speakers included. Doesn't matter to me which other V30s they do or do not sound like. The ones I have kick ass and that's plenty enough for me.
