The SD-1 smokes the OD-3 (IMHO)

So.. *commence rant*

y'all saw me have an incoming of a Boss OD-3 last week, THEE pedal I've been waiting to own for years. Finally got my pedal and put it on my board after my SD-1. Straight honest, not sure how I feel about it after being super excited over owning one for so long.

Y'all are right, it truly does have a more amp like response, but it kind of feels flat in comparison to it's SD-1 sibling. Maybe that's what it's supposed to do EQ wise..? I've been trying it through my clean channels (Boogie Mark IIIs, JCM 2000 DSL 50/100, Dual Rectifier Rev G). I'm years in to having the response of the SD-1 so take it what it's worth. That pedal keeps everything (literally) TIGHT, while the OD-3 doesn't seem to hold the bottom very well..at all. It's very LOUD when engaged. I'll keep it on my board for a little more experimentation. It does A LOT better stacked. Certainly can't see that OD-3 as a stand alone always on.

I also have an anniversary black SD-1 that I've not yet to run with my ole Taiwanese SD-1. That may be the better answer after all ...in tandem with my MXR 10 Band EQ 3. So much control in that regard.

Anyways, here's a perfect to each their own scenario
I would like the Waza SD-1W to see how much improved the circuit is on regular SD-1 setting. the custom setting I don't care about.

As a HUGE fan of the SD-1 ( per my post), I would absolutely love to try out the Waza SD-1 W. As a matter of fact, thank you for reminding me as I may look for one right now. The SD-1 is the absolute main ingredient for any of my amps.

Edit: Not super interested for the pricing. I already have the original SD-1 and Anniversary. Not even hearing any difference of the Waza that my EQ couldn't make up for, honestly. Hard pass.

Since this post, the OD-3 found it's place back on my board. :D

Straight honest, I absolutely love it now. What has worked the best is to actually keep it boosted with an SD-1 ( go figure right lol) rather than use it as a standalone. It sounds phenomenal like that. Also, this combo sounds marvelous with my Fender amps which is why I'm keeping it on my board. I'm a guy who likes a good amount of dirty twang so it provides that in spades - Telecaster to-boot!

I still REALLY need to try out the Waza SD-1 W !
