I've had recliners all my life.

They are not just for stereotypical white, fat, bald, hairy-backed, Cadillac-driving, retired old men, who wear tan slacks, white socks & wife-beaters, smoke cigars, drink anisette, read the newspaper, bet on OTB, and watch a console TV all day.

Today, a man is not the true king of his castle without he owns a recliner. In fact, a recliner is an expression of the many reasons why a man has a castle in the first place.

… old people welcome in this thread.

> old people welcome.....
Well, okay then,,,
My one is extra good because it has heavy-duty wheels with brakes.
I suspect it came from a retirement home.
There was a time when it had its uses but I have not sat in it for years.
By not using it I can pretend that I am not getting older.

There comes a point in time when a human being must re-visit McGuffeys Readers and what better way to while away the day than a lazy Boy.

If you have a recliner YOU won't get in it!

(& it won't be old people that are hogging it!)

McGuffey?
That's not very Australian.

For me, for my nostalgia in my recliner, it's pure Australian: Cole's Funny Picture Book
__

E.W. Cole began a small publishing and second-hand book selling business in 1865, and by 1873 had opened the first incarnation of his book arcade, with the recognisable rainbow arch facade.[1] The Cole's Book Arcade became one of the great iconic stores of Melbourne in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.[2]
