... and the addition of the converter changes your maximum aperture IE - allows less light to come in - to the point where the autofocus system won't even function except in very bright light.
my AF wouldn't work w/ the 2 TC's attached. Manual focus baby! Most lenses will struggle w/ a 2x, but, the 200/1.8 isn't one of them. My f/2.8 lenses can some times be a little slow...

W/ the 3x TC, even the f/1.8 has a hard time...

It's just the nature of the game.

Manual focus isn't too bad. The sucky thing is, usually, your camera will alert you when you have focus, but, at this point 2x+3x, it doesn't even do that. Just have to hope the vision is doing ok, at that point. The other thing is, that you don't move the focal point of the camera, once focus is achieved...

Yep. Fast lenses are great but at some point it becomes almost a guessing game!!

I shot a couple events, where I couldn't use flash. The lighting was horrendous. One was a dance thing, w/ only minimal street lighting. The other was a concert w/ no spot lights.

On both occasions, I used my 85/1.2. I was barely able to get fast enough shutters, but, the DOF was so shallow, a lot of blur, either from movement, or shallow DOF & they moved out of the focal plane...

When you're shooting a dancer, & the DOF is literally 2-3" & they move & your getting shutter speeds of 1/60 sec - 1/80/sec... makes for a rough night... same thing w/ a concert too, but, the hardest part is getting more than 1 performer in the shot, at a time, because the shallow DOF, is still in the inches range...

So, yeah, fast lenses & shallow DOF can be cool, but, they can only be cool for certain uses...

tonight's super duper blue moon, or whatever...

full moons aren't as photogenic, especially when you don't have anything to prop in the photo w/ it.

funny how different the color is. This one almost seems b&w, but it's not.

I need to get me a telescope. Then I need to look into T-mounts, etc... never done that, in all my years of photography

Some football shots from Labour Day. Used one of the Olympus with the fast 200mm f2.8 lens.

How do you get this much background blur: is it mostly a long focal length and narrow depth of field? I assume the greenery being at a good distance helps as well.

Here is a shot I took of a hummingbird...

I was using the TV setting on the camera. Here are some other details for you...

Hope this helps....I don't have a good knowledge of F-stops, etc.
