OK... here's the thing... yes, I happen to have one... technically, I have not decided to sell it (yet), therefore, I don't think this thread qualifies for the classified category of this forum. I just figured I would post this here to put out some feelers to see what the market (around here) is like. what do you folks think? I think I know what the general consensus is, which I won't elaborate on right now, however, it seems that the value is still going through the roof, regardless.

so...what do you guys have to say about it? are you rabid for a Bad Monkey pedal? do you think the whole JHS debacle is pure silliness? I wanna hear your input.

Is anyone actually paying the prices being written about? This YouTube stuff with these reviews and sudden onset madness is the dumbest shit I've ever seen.

I've got at least 10 ODs on the shelf and I guarantee you I can make at least five of them sound like an original Centaur in a YouTube video.

Asking price and Sold price are two different things. We all know about the crackhead asking prices on Reverb.

Prices are elevated right now but not the pandemonium that the Guitar World article would have you believe. They will come crashing back down in a month or two. I took a couple screenshots but they are too large to paste here. Sort on Sold Listings / Most Recent and you'll see.

This whole clique of YouTube "influencers" probably have a Las Vegas style betting pool where they pick a particular piece of gear then watch players lose their minds, then laugh their asses off.

Probably because of this-

Probably would be good to sell mine for a quick 200 as I prefer the CM2 I own. But no, I only have one BM and I like it so it will stay.
Crazy how utube videos have such an impact.
I just skimmed the video but he did make the pedals all sound pretty identical- who's to say what it was like in the room.

Bingo. That one line right there is why you are smarter than anyone paying out of the nose for one.

They are good pedals at the end of the day, don't get me wrong.

yes, we all know what caused this jump in the Bad Monkey market all of a sudden. I wasn't questioning what caused this. I was just trying to get everyone's take on it, that's all... needless to say, yeah. it all seems a little bit silly. however, people apparently are taking Josh's word as golden prophecy. and since I actually have a Bad Monkey pedal, I'm taking advantage of all this insanity. sorry, but money is money.

look, I totally get the ridiculousness of all of this... I really do... as a frequent pedal buyer, I would be rolling my eyes at how silly all this is... I WOULD feel that way, if I didn't happen to have a Bad Monkey pedal in my possession... LoL... so, ya know... :naughty::hmm:

Insane. You can still buy spot on centaur clones for $100 and under.

I've seen and passed on the bad monkey more than once for under $50..and that was in the last year or so...had I known..lol

People are so fucking stupid. Why would anyone pay the prices for what is essentially a klon clone in the end, when there are great options for $100. Dumb fucks.

My LGS has had them in over the years, and a mint one in the last month (it's the 2nd in this listing).
Those are crazy phishing prices. They go for £50 in the UK, with the box.

I have a BM, and a Hardwire CM-2, plus Boss Sd-1, OD-1X and OD-3

The 'BM vs everything' vid is clever how he made all the pedals sound the same, actually he made them all sound like his amp, when pushed with an 'overdrive' pedal. I think that depends how you set them, and if your amp is set so that it is already compressing, at the beginning of overdrive, then the amp will dominate the tone as you push it further with a pedal. That may be the classic way to use an OD pedal. By the time the pedal is distorting on a rising signal, the amp has already maxed out (an over simplification! but true to some extent IMO).

The pedals dont all sound the same and you can hear that if you clean up the amp a bit and turn up the pedal gain. Out of my small collection, CM-2 beats BM on tone, and OD-3 is my favorite overall.

Also, BM's were a great value box, and they still should be, if at a reasonable price. My main gripe with them is when turned off, the buffer takes the edge off the clarity of the tone, in a way that my other buffered pedals, or my TB pedals, do not.

I'll give you $5,000 for it.
