This could happen. Let’s try the new speaker first and maybe clip the bright cap.Trade it in and get a Silver Jubilee...problem solved. Beautiful and great amp though.

Just sold my ‘70’s Marshall 4x12 downsizing. Its an open back cab. plug the amp into a 4x12 instead and you will regain the tone you seek. Not with an open back speaker box.

They are loud, killer little amps. I would hate to see you ditch it. Those gain settings are fairly low gain depending on one's style. Open er up and just clip the cap on one leg. So easy to put back. Then it won't thin out when gain is on 4 or even 7.
Mush... I wonder if it is biased correctly? They should have that bright, ballsy 800 tone even with master on like 2. They can sound harsh and too bright but I wouldn't describe any settings on a 4010 as mush.
This is with mine gain full up and an OD with level high on OD but no gain set on OD. Doesn't sound mushy to me, still bright and cooking even with the OD, IMO.
I do play higher gain tho. Even if you pin gain and turn guitar down.
Had it out today and forgot to try that, definitely will do so tomorrow.Have you tried the amp on the floor as opposed to the dolly yet?
Do the clip. you can always put it back but no one does. This could happen. Waiting for my new speaker and maybe clipping the bright cap first.
REVV G3? Not sure what you are referring to?I haven't read all the replies, but my REVV G3 works really well with not only my plexi, but with all of my amps. It really pumps out bottom-end to my amps, and will do it a lower volumes along cranked.

Yup. There's a time when one needs or wants to downsize. I sold my entire Marshall rig - a JVM 210h into my JCM800 4x12 that I bought in the early 90s. Ran many amps, four of them being Marshalls, through that 4x12.Just sold my ‘70’s Marshall 4x12 downsizing.
No, I doubt it's defective and I doubt you think it is either. I use it into a cranked plexi and it's massive. Like most pedals, I use them like seasoning - not too much. Just enough to make it tasty.![]()
I have a REVV G3. I've tried everything and I can't get any good tones out of it. Might be defective.
OP: Maybe you're just too accustomed to the tone of that 4x12 you sold?
Yes, I recently sold this early ‘70s 1987 and cab, definitely missing them. A recent health issue made me rethink a lot of things.Yup. There's a time when one needs or wants to downsize. About a year later? I'm looking at my repro 60s Marshall 4x12! Lol I just missed it too much.
I hope you have better luck staying away than I did! 😅
well, I'm open to suggestions. I tried it in front, in the loop and straight into the return. I tired the suggested settings and I haven't found anything i could work with. Sounded NOTHING at all like any demos I have heard. No, I doubt it's defective and I doubt you think it is either. I use it into a cranked plexi and it's massive. If I can't crank the plexi, I run the G3 into a tube screamer.
Oh, brother. I remember you talking up that 1987! Damn! How long did you have it?Yes, I recently sold this early ‘70s 1987 and cab, definitely missing them. A recent health issue made me rethink a lot of things.

Sorry you had a health issue. I have type 1 diabetes, so it’s just a matter of time before I start having trouble. Things are ok right now, though; my control is OK. I’m hoping that when the day comes that I need to go into a home, or whatever, that I can give my stuff to my sons.
Also, it just occurred to me, you could get a ported 1x12 to pair with the combo. Right now I use ported 2x12s, and they sound huge.
