They are loud, killer little amps. I would hate to see you ditch it. Those gain settings are fairly low gain depending on one's style. Open er up and just clip the cap on one leg. So easy to put back. Then it won't thin out when gain is on 4 or even 7.

Mush... I wonder if it is biased correctly? They should have that bright, ballsy 800 tone even with master on like 2. They can sound harsh and too bright but I wouldn't describe any settings on a 4010 as mush.

This is with mine gain full up and an OD with level high on OD but no gain set on OD. Doesn't sound mushy to me, still bright and cooking even with the OD, IMO.
I do play higher gain tho. Even if you pin gain and turn guitar down.

Fricken Keith Heinz the MF rager on the 4 string LOL

Have you tried the amp on the floor as opposed to the dolly yet?

I haven't read all the replies, but my REVV G3 works really well with not only my plexi, but with all of my amps. It really pumps out bottom-end to my amps, and will do it a lower volumes along cranked.

REVV G3? Not sure what you are referring to?

I have a REVV G3. I've tried everything and I can't get any good tones out of it. Might be defective.

OP: Maybe you're just too accustomed to the tone of that 4x12 you sold?

Just sold my ‘70’s Marshall 4x12 downsizing.
Yup. There's a time when one needs or wants to downsize. I sold my entire Marshall rig - a JVM 210h into my JCM800 4x12 that I bought in the early 90s. Ran many amps, four of them being Marshalls, through that 4x12.

About a year later? I'm looking at my repro 60s Marshall 4x12! Lol I just missed it too much.

I hope you have better luck staying away than I did! 😅

No, I doubt it's defective and I doubt you think it is either. I use it into a cranked plexi and it's massive. Like most pedals, I use them like seasoning - not too much. Just enough to make it tasty.

If I can't crank the plexi, I run the G3 into a tube screamer.

Yes, I recently sold this early ‘70s 1987 and cab, definitely missing them. A recent health issue made me rethink a lot of things.

well, I'm open to suggestions. I tried it in front, in the loop and straight into the return. I tired the suggested settings and I haven't found anything i could work with. Sounded NOTHING at all like any demos I have heard.

Oh, brother. I remember you talking up that 1987! Damn! How long did you have it?

Sorry you had a health issue. I have type 1 diabetes, so it’s just a matter of time before I start having trouble. Things are ok right now, though; my control is OK. I’m hoping that when the day comes that I need to go into a home, or whatever, that I can give my stuff to my sons.

Also, it just occurred to me, you could get a ported 1x12 to pair with the combo. Right now I use ported 2x12s, and they sound huge.

Hope that you are able to keep your diabetes under control and stay healthy.

I didn’t own that 1987 long enough, not even a full year. I didn’t want my wife to stuck getting rid of all this big-heavy gear, should something ever happen to me. Plus, I knew that I could get a fair deal selling it myself.

Been a few months since I found out my issue. I had surgery last week and I am now back home and recovering. I am told that have a very good prognosis once I’m done with my upcoming treatments.

This type of thing really makes you think, and makes you want to get all your ducks in a row.

Thanks
