RANT: Why does anyone make a pickup with ONE hole per side????

My 2007 HSS Fender Highway1 has bridge bucker with 3 hole mounts. 2 screws on one sie and 1 on other . I think this is a good system . By the way screwing pick ups into the wood is nothing magical . The pickups do not hear the wood , just the string vibration in the magnetic field . Messing with pole pieces is another thing not to do . The magnetic field of each pole does not specifically focus to each string .

The standard Gibson style humbucker installation self levels the pickup to the plane of the top surface of the ring unless something interferes with its ability to move from spring pressure. So you should pick the ring to match up to the guitar, or trim the ring to the right angle, and then don't worry about it.

This will be direct-mounted.

Then the plane of the surface to which the pickup screws will be mounted should be made to be parallel with the strings. Route or spot drill with a fixture that established the correct angle.

You could take 2 thin strips of brass and mount one along each side of the pup.
Screw the metal strip to the existing pup screw hole, then drill a hole at each end of the strip.

My Evh pups have every option covered. Two holes both sides for direct mounting no screw threads and also a centre hole for using in pickup rings. Mine are screwed down to the wood tight and sit nice and level. If I wanted to tip one forward or backward I’d probably use foam underneath or a small m3 washer.
Everything on this Japanese Evh is well thought out. Still amazes me to this day.
