I tried this and for me there was no audible benifit to this. A tiny difference maybe, but neither good nor bad.
What helps tremendous imo is using it with G12T75 cabs, atleast the 80s and 90s versions.
And equing this thing right helps too. I find myself always turning the mids way up and bass down on the green. On the red i turn the mids way down and the bass way up.
If i use the green 'clean' i use an eq after guitar and cancel the bloated bass which stems from an fixed pre-set tonestack they put in there.
This tonestack acts as if you turn lowband way up and mids out.
It works when cranking the amp, but at lesser volumes its irritating, eq helps there.
I use it like a single channel amp and I keep it on red channel 1 with gain on 4. Works great for me that way. Was just wondering about the effects loop patch trick. My amp head stays at rehearsal…if feedback was that it does indeed do something positive then I would try it next time I’m with it. I use the head with a mid 80’s 800 cab loaded with its original white label 75’s.
I have modulation pedals in my effects loop of mine. I think I tried the jumper across at one point, but I don't recall it making much, if any difference.
