So I have a guy in New Hampshire, whom is wanting to purchase my '78 JMP 2204 full stack. he wants me to ship. to me the red flags are this. 1) (the biggest one) knowing my asking price is above 5,000. I sent him several pics but nothing internal, he didn't ask me for gut shots. I feel anyone wanting one of these amps especially at that cost would want to verify authenticity and functionality. 2) he didn't even attempt to talk me down on price at all. no questions at all other than are you willing to ship. he also tells me that through paypal, he makes payment, they hold it until he confirms receipt of gear and then they will release it. I have been doing paypal for a long time and this has never happened this way. my gut tells me to stay away.

Your amp, you set the payment terms.
When I shipped my 6101/6912, I told the buyer up front:
1. He arranges and pays UPS for the shipping - any damage /delivery issues are between him and UPS.
2. PayPal payment shows posted before I leave the amp at UPS - at that point, the amp is his and I'm paid before I get in the car.
If the buyer says no, walk away.

your right @fitz only other issue would be, if he decided to dispute, then they could force me to pay money back and never get the amp in return.
Just get in writing (email), the sale happens at the shipping point.
He assumes total ownership when you get paid, "as is, where is", and shipping is completely his responsibility.
If the buyer says you're trying to screw him, tell him to get in his car and bring cash.

F. That. They're pulling some shit for sure

I would put it for local pick up in person. Anyone who will be a legitimate buyer and willing to spend 5k will make arrangements to come and get it if they were truly serious.

I know I would rather make the drive to not only assess the condition in person, and not having to ship it would be much better than hoping and praying until it arrives.

And Shipping must be twice the cost of just picking it up no?

Is he calling the amp "your Item" ? Willing to pay full price. No questions. I would be surprised if it is not a scam.

Classic scam I see on craigslist.
True that @blues
I have seen it with damm near anything I have listed ..
It’s a scam @Chrome
I would do as @fitz said . Tell him to drive on over with cash in hand.

Cheers
Mitch
