Today I am very excited to have a Gibson Flying Vinsanitizer back in the fold.

New 2022 Gibson Flying V
-Burst Bucker 2 & 3's;
-Hand-soldered CTS 500K's;
-Those, plus the light weight (7.32 lbs by fish scale) and resonance of the wood, make this guitar sound absotively delicious.

Sounds exactly like this through my Marshalls using low gain:

edit: I am not used to hearing BB 2 & 3 setup for a V.. How do you like how it sounds with those set of pickups ? Not the norm there.

Can't decipher so much between the pickups and the guitar resonance, but wherever the tone is coming from, it's thick, fat, chewy, and has a smooth, pronounced pick attack. It's not an edgy Metal tone. When I hit an open A it just goes off until one of the notes blooms into feedback.

I saw it at the store a couple weeks ago. I've pissed and moaned here about how I hate the pickguards on these new V's, and probably the price too. But I plugged it into a Marshall 100H + 1960A, and it just sounded alive. It's got that chunky V low-mid thing going on. Looks great, sounds great, plays great - can't ask for more.

I also am not the biggest fan of the newer pickguards. I can live with them because I absolutely love the feel of a Gibson V. It's like everything is in the right place.

I wished I had a room full of them. I'm a big fan of the reissue '70's version with the full guard and big truss rod cover as well. They are bit pricey for me.

Happy new Flying v day!

I've owned several variants and I have yet to try one I like as much as the Gibson's. I'd say the Orville made (Japan) ones are really good or a Greco. I've yet to get my hands on one though...

Enjoy it! I love the natural finish.

Looks good, Vin!

Does that mean that they're simply wired together, no circuit board, or?

I'm not a big fan of the V's, but that is some nice wood on that thing! I dig it!
Yeah, no circuit board. The pots sound nice, but they don't react, or sound the same, as my R9 and R8. With my Historics, the volume tapers perfectly smooth from 10 down to 0. With this, there's a sudden drop-off at 9. Maybe they need cleaning. I don't really care at the moment, but its something I may explore in teh future.

I spent a lot of time working on the setup. I have a bunch of tests I run new guitars through, which takes several hours, sometimes a couple of days. I test the extreme parameters of the truss rod, action height, pickup heights, this and that, and then I land the setup where I think the guitar wants to be. If it still feels comfortable and is still within mfg specs, sounds great with no buzzing or any funny shet going on, I'll keep it, otherwise I return 'em.

This one took a while, but when I was done I found myself getting lost in the comfort of its playability and the wide flexibility of tones it gets. It's very vocal and expressive if you know how to use the pick and wiggle the notes to pull the tone out of it. I'm getting some sweet, thick overtones. It's such a nice guitar to play, and I got lost in it for several hours a few times today. So far it sounds so sweet through my Origin 20 and DSL20CR.

Whenever I can get a new guitar to set up properly without having to fix stupid BS like shimming the neck angle (Fender), filing sharp fret ends, and a whole other list of things, then I can start getting into the tone. If it sets up great, and ALSO has great tones, I'll keep it. And I'm keeping this one. So fun to play it. Rare occasion where I'm not tweaking my maps, but tweaking my pick-attack to bring out the super sweet tones in any guitar. :yesway:
