New Marshall Amp Clone Day. Ceriatone JCM800 2204 style.

Wow! This amp sounds amazing. The 3-way bright switch changes voicing enough to add real versatility. It's also equipped with a buffered effects loop. Absolutely love the tone. Started out plugging straight in. Nothing in the loop. Pure Classic Rock tone!

But, I have a stereo, multi-amp setup. And I've put the new amp into my setup.

WholeCabinet.jpg

I have a de Lisle amp/speaker switcher. The three amp heads that share one 2x12 cab. An SC20H, a JCM 2000 DSL 50, and the new Ceriatone JCM 800 2204 HW. Plus, an SC20C is part of this setup. (I have other amps, Fender, Mesa, Rivera, etc., that are completely autonomous.)

deLisle.jpg

More detail, if you're interested.
Guitar to pedalboard. Wah/Fuzz/Octave/Boost/OD/Dumble/Compression and Chase Secret Preamp style pedals in front of the amps. The signal from there is split with a Radial Engineering A/B/Y. One of the two outputs goes to the SC20C, which as long as it's powered on, is always the other amp in my stereo setup. The primary amp can be any of the amp heads. With the de Lisle, I just turn a knob to choose an amp. That switches the input as well as the effects loop to target one of amp heads.

The de Lisle allows an attenuator to be attached and shared by all the amp heads. A Captor X in my case. With an on/off switch to enable and disable the attenuator easily.

All of the pedals in the effects loop are stereo modulation pedals with with L/R jacks. One side of the stereo modulation goes to the SC20C. The other side of the stereo modulation goes to the de Lisle. So I can switch amp heads easily, as described above.

It's a fun setup. I'm a tinkerer and enjoy all this, even if it's not the kind of thing some others would do.

And finally, an obligatory gut shot of the new Ceriatone.

de Lisle makes some really cool gadgets. I have the 12X12 Deluxe with attenuator loop as well as a three button switcher pedal to go to other amps not in the Deluxe plus a Studio 15P head that's sort of modeled after a Vox AC15 and matching cab. It's so easy to swap amps and cabs quickly. Nice setup you have there!

Awesome. I have a ceriatone 2204. Buffered loop. I have a lot of amps. Mesa, peavey, krank, Friedman, Marshall dsl’s. But when I plug into the 2204, that teenage shit eating grin look on my face shows up. My favourite amp So far…

Very nice! I`ve been waiting for it`s arrival to you as i`m interested in your thoughts concerning the 3-way Bright' switch. Are all 3 settings usable for you? I bet the amp sounds fantastic--congratulations to you!

All 3 positions are useable. In the brightest position, it's noticeably brighter and also louder than in the other two positions. To my ear, there's not a huge difference in the other two positions. They are perceptible, just not significant. Easiest for me to say, for instance, the brightest position is 30% brighter and 15% louder than the next closest position, sonically. But there's less than 15% difference between the other two positions in tone, and zero difference in loudness.

Plugged into High Sensitivity, having the bright switch on brightest, is a bit like having a Treble Booster on. Or not, if you change switch positions.

Plugged into Low Sensitivity, having the bright switch on the least bright, helps with a neck pickup, dark, rich, bluesy, clean tone. Or not, if you switch positions for a brighter clean tone.

So I'm very glad I got it.

Thank you very much for detailing how the 3-way Bright switch operates--it sounds like a great feature! I wonder which 'bright cap' stock value of the 3 is Ceriatone`s choice--I have read that their stock 2204 circuit is different/not as 'bright' as Marshall`s original 2204 circuit due to their choice of using a different 'bright cap' value. I bet yours sounds really great--any chance of posting a 'sound clip' so we can hear it?! That would be great! Thanks again for your reply to me.

The bright switch, 3-way toggle, is the red switch on the left.

As viewed in the photo, the Preamp is above it, and Master Volume is below it.

Impeccable workmanship by Nik & his staff--very nice & I bet you are loving it! I owned 2 Ceriatones a few years ago [a 20w Yeti & a 20w Chupacbra--both hot-rodded M type amps--and of course they sounded great. Ceriatone`s reputation has always been top notch in the amp world. I hope that us here will be able to hear your 2204 [esp. a demo of the 3 bright cap settings]

Added a Marshall 1x12 to my setup today, So now with the de Lisle Amp-Speaker selector I can switch between any of the three amp heads to run either the 2x12 or the 1x12.

2x12 has a Vintage 30 and a G12H 75 Creamback. The 1x12 has a G12M Greenback. My amps can blow the Greenback if I crank it, but I won't. Just wanted that tonal option.

The SC20C has a G10 Creamback.

Having way too much fun! Though now I have to find a place for my Mesa Fillmore and its pedalboard. 1x12 is where they were.

Congratulations my friend! I wish you a lifetime of fun with that baby. I have the same speaker setup as you do, V30 / 75wCB. Another good speaker for 800 style amps is the WGS Retro 30 in a 1-12" cab. They really sound great with my 2202. Nik has a new amp you may like, https://ceriatone.com/british-style-jtm101/ It's new and I know nothing about it, sorry. I prefer the hotrod line, King Kong, Chupacabra, etc. My amp buying days are over, I have 2 absolutely incredible amps that fill the void and produce the sounds I have been searching for my whole life. The KK and Chupacabra, super versatile amps.
