Weird me either now, was up earlier.
Headstock with tuners gold, like a Gaza pyramid almost, the stepped kind on the tuning knobs.
Meh, I don't want gold tuners.
I just replaced the old junk chrome tuners with new junk chrome tuners.
The tuners on the example '57 Gibson are the 3-in-1 per side.

I kinda like the white oval knobs...
Can't find the 3-in-1's that match the post spacing on the Maestro.
Might get something like this.

I ain't spendin' more on tuners than I did on the guitar.
That paint job already killed my junk guitar fixer-upper budget.

^ That ....I have sort of an unwritten rule about keepin' cheap guitars ,cheap.........Although there are a couple MIC guitars that I have upgraded pickups on ....pickups that are more expensive than the guitar

The stock tuners on the Maestros aint that bad . I don't like the shape of the buttons though ,so I change 'em

Ive been using these on cheap guitars for 30 yrs .These are the ones I use on the Junior n Special copies , they also come in 6 inline

TK-7562 ECONOMY 3X3 KEYS — Allparts Music

These I use on the Standard, Custom n Flyin V copies

TK-0777 SEALED 3X3 TUNING KEYS WITH KEYSTONE BUTTONS — Allparts Music

5 coats - not getting a 6th out of that rattle can.
I think I'm pretty close to the target shade.
Glad I ditched the disco ball gold.

Beautiful job on the amazing transformation of your Maestro guitar !!

I have done a few similar builds and have gravitated toward the Mojoaxe Wraparound bridge.

I have tried many bridges (Faber, Gibson, Tonepros, Pigtail etc...stairstep style depending on the studs) and find the Mojoaxe to be the best. They have 2 different models for offset and parallel studs.http://www.mojoaxe.com/

1st picture is a Cherry Junior build with the offset studs (I used some locking studs to keep the tilt to a minimum https://www.ebay.com/itm/122004247028?hash=item1c680511f4:g:UewAAOSwnF9Y6~T6) and the 2nd picture is a 1960 Epiphone Coronet with the stock parallel studs. Both bridges are from Mojoaxe.

Yes
I like it longer like this myself ...

Also, they do the neck joint in ways too. Look it up ...I can't find it and forget what they are called.
Lot's of cool little neck stuff like this and different. Fades are cool too.

I caved and got yet another one ,A TALENT , but I don't think Im gonna keep this neck .

I haven't figured out the "secret" as to which ones have the chunky neck . The neck I put on the white body came from an SG,so maybe I'll start there . But it's gotta be one I can actually put my hands on ,or else I'll be accumulating a bunch o' necks I can't use

Some finishing touches: (compared with the Gibson)
Went ahead with some new Kaish locking tuners.
I couldn't find anything that matched the tuner spacing in a one piece per side set.

Also noticed that the Gibson had some knob pointers.

And I decided to bling it out with an LPJ head decal.

I finally got around to tearin' this one apart......whaddya know , it is NOT plywood
Tryin to get this one together for my British "stash"
Not entirely happy with the neck profile , but it's better than most. The neck on my white one is 1 11/16" at the nut ,most of 'em seem to be about 1 5/8"......doesn't seem like much , but they're night n day

Looks like you're stickin with the double cut pickguard .Im on the fence about that on my current one

Those gears look like they cost more than the guitar

Trying to match the custom '57.
Well, the paint job cost almost as much as the guitar...
The tuners were $27, but I got them (& the pointers) "free" from Ambazon with Discover cashback from X-mas shopping for the kids & the X.
That set had the closest I could find with the ivory buttons and thin shafts.
And they are way nicer than the junk ones I bought to replace the junk ones that came with it.

That wasn't a bad deal . My normal parts supplier (s) seem to be victims of the "supply chain crisis"
Amazon isn't a bad option for the odd guitar part now n then

Im on fire ,as I found another 1 11/16 Maestro neck !!

It is night day. My PRS has a chunky neck profile as far as depth goes, but at the nut it is a bit narrower than 1 11/16". It makes a difference as the first few positions feel cramped, and I like thinner neck profiles.

Well ,this one's a terror
I ditched the "Talent" neck for a Maestro neck with just a little more girth

Some guy had two Allparts Razor p-90s on reverb for 60 for the pair ,perfect
When I started foolin with these guitars , i bought some Epiphone bone nuts from Allparts ,because I was feelin lazy and didn't wanna make nuts for guitars I might not keep anyway . I end up trimmin them down from the bottom . Normally makin a nut , I'd work from the top , but these are nicely slotted ,so ya may just as wll take advantage of it . Changed the gears to the ones I mentioned before

Im not sure where that p90 cover went ...it'll turn up , but I dont care anyway
Grabbed yet another Badass out the parts drawer .Always glad to have a chance to use stuff up.
Got everything aligned n tuned up ....probably the most fun (and sometimes frustrating) part of all this sh*t
Im thinkin I'll go with a black single cut guard. DC guard looks weird to an old school Junior cultist
I actually ended up not photo documenting too much of this one , because it all fell in line so quickly
The solid body sounds a little tighter than the ply one . I can't say either one sounds any better . They're both workin for me . This one will probably move to England in the spring , if I go , to replace a DC Studio I wanna sell. I'll probably throw the Talent neck on an Epi Special I got over there
Kinda of a grey day here today so the pics are .......grey,but you get the picture
