Been wanting another one of these more rare Vs for awhile now. Being only made for 5 years, they're getting harder to find. Personally I think they're some of Gibson's best V designs. They kind of look like a 58' V, less plastic, and a feature a great neck profile...slim like a 60s neck, but with a deeper D shape. Very comfortable for my hand. Plus, they were made during an era when Gibson was turning out good quality guitars. This particular guitar is excellent. No frills, basic but it's very resonant and plays great! Sounds good totally stock, and it will remain that way.

You mean the *V98*? If so, I get it! They're hard to find and pricey. Different then the standard 67RI. The neck is not as wide, but deeper...D shaped. Plus the pickups mount into the guitar's body not the pickguard. As a result they have more mass and are heavier. The tone is also brighter. They sound great, better then 67s, Explorers, and SGs.

Love it.

These are basically the 58 style control layout with a stop bar tailpiece instead of the V shaped string through setup.

The V98's have been going up in value for a while and they don't come up for sale much anymore. I really wished I had my Gibson Gothic V back. Those were also based on the V98 as well...

I have been after one of the v98's in the burst finish for a while. When one does pop up, it's considerably more than I want to (or realistically) can pay for it.

Congrats on having two though. It would also be cool because that matches my Explorer with the gold hardware.

The burst was only made one year as a Limited Edition. There's two on Reverb now for stupid money.
