Yup, that's structural and bad news. I wouldn't pay any more than $250 or $300 US for that. If you like the amp see if they'll exchange it for the one in the store.

Otherwise, one day soon you'll pull the top off when you try to lift it.

Thanks so much guys! Glad I asked on here. I’m gonna take it back to the store and return it first thing tomorrow.

Coincidentally, the SC20C near me got marked down to $1150. I may do the drive to pick that up. Though after this amp, I’m a bit weary buying used from craigslist or marketplace where I can’t return.

Looking for something I don't remember what.

I would remove the amp from the cab, find the crack on the inside, push some wood glue into the crack, clamp it or stand it on it's side with weight on top to hold it together (if you don't have suitable clamps). After the glue is set it should be solid.
Maybe contact GC and tell them about the issue and you're willing to get it fixed but you need more money off to cover the repair.

Fine idea if only the cab were made entirely of real wood.

Unfortunately, wood glue doesn't really work for the sawdust/glue material that the DSL is made of. Wood glue only adheres to wood and nothing else, at least not other glue or plastic.

So I wouldn't trust it since who knows what percentage of the cab is actually wood. If it's still within the return period OP should just return/exchange it.

If it was actually made entirely of real wood then a glue and clamp would be fine. Though I'd ask for more back than the $100 they refunded.

Hope I can post one soon! I just found this gorgeous DSL40CR but not sure on keeping it yet. Love the look and it sounds awesome.

Only concern is the amp makes a light popping noise whenever I hit the foot switch to change channels. Is this normal for DSL amps? On TGP forum they said the popping noise isn’t normal or shouldn’t happen.

Mine also makes a light popping noise when switching channels. I haven't given it any mind.

Good to know. I tested another DSL40CR in the store and heard the same so I didn’t mind it. It’s too bad the amp had that crack in the cabinet, would have certainly kept it otherwise.
