I was ready to pull the trigger on the 50 and someone had to go and post Boss GT pro, FCB1010, Peavey Windsor, 4x12 cab for a really good price. it killed by budget for the 50 will have to wait a few more months. You caught my attention with the tolex release though. have not seen that yet.
The cream is one of the main reasons I want it!

For years a JVM410H was my only guitar amp. Soon after I aquired an Origin 20C I sold the JVM because I liked the old school sounds of the Origin so much better.
If that‘s what you‘re into, I‘m sure you will enjoy your Origin.

Yup , get it , no mistake . Thats a nice amp . Great old school Marshall raw tone . Small , portable , useful .

The Origin has it's own Mojo going on that, if you're into classic rock tones, you're going to dig.

I agree with all of this.

I'm just an at-home player whose only other tube amp has been the Blues Jr. which I never really bonded with.

Growing up loving the tones produced primarily by the Fender Bassman, JTM45, and JTM45/100 (Mayall's Bluesbreakers, early Hendrix, early Cream), I wanted an amp that could get me in the ballpark without breaking the bank or my eardrums.

The Origin (with and without pedals) has been one of the most satisfying purchases I've made. More than a year and a half after buying the 50H, I'm still having massive amounts of fun with it.

Enjoy yours in the best of health! :)

Friedman BE-OD is the one you want. Turns the Origin into a JCM800 sounding machine.

Boss SD-1 is very nice and cheap also. You can use it with a lot of Marshall amps.

I use a Sabbra Cadabra for Black Sabbath.

I the Diezel pedals for the Diezel tones.
Can you share your amp settings? I have never got a pedal to sound good through the front of the amp. With that said mine sounds great cranked with a Tube Screamer in front. Just don't like that I don't have a clean channel.

Amp settings differ for everybody. It's your ears that matter most, every time. Your settings could be anything compared to mine.

This is how to dial in any amp.

After you enjoy doing all that, the answer to your question is to turn the amps gain way down but leave the boost on. Hit it with the pedal instead for your gain tone. Try not to dial pedals too much if you can avoid it but if the tone isn't there, try dialing up.

The answer to a lot of stuff with Marshall is more volume, less gain.

It's a Marshall, so volume is nearly always a must to get it to sound good, which usually means the need to attenuate in smaller settings.

Try all that first to see if it gets you anything better.

What pedals are you using with it?

I'll add, a Boss SD-1 in to a RAT II ( I'm also using a FatRat) slammin' the input of my Origin 50s sounds RI-DONK-U-LOUSY fantastic.

With those pedals, you can get such a GREAT mix of vintage ( using TILT) and more JCM territory together.

I'm still loving these amps since the day I first plugged in. Absolutey the most fun amps in my collection.
