Hi everyone

I don’t have a JVM410 but I have a JVM210C and I need help with my amp.

MY HISTORY
I’ve bought countless amps over my lifetime and never found an amp that I really enjoyed playing until the JVM210C I had a Mesa boogie triple rectifier half stack one point but sold it because I just didn’t enjoy the tone.
About 3 years ago I picked up a cheap JVM210C and thought I’d give it a try. I absolutely love it and hate it equally! It’s a love hate relationship.
It is by far the best sounding amp for my personal liking but.. I’ve spent probably 2000 hours (Probably an accurate estimate of time) just trying gear and experimenting with the amp trying to fix the flaws in the tone. I’ve tried ODs, EQs, Comps, Speakers, Cabs, etc etc. Nothing really eliminates the undesirable aspects of what I don’t like about the amp.
Although I would love to just give up on her and sell this beautiful beast.. It’s so close to the tone I’ve always been chasing that I feel I can’t give up on her yet.

The Biggest Issue
The biggest problem I’m having is that the amp just has too much gain. One of the best tones I could get was with the Orange channel but I couldn't turn up the gain past 9 o’clock before all the mud. Some pickups will let me go to 10 o’clock but it’s a stretch. As you might already have guessed, at 9 o’clock it’s very thin sounding. It sounds angry but thin.
Also it’s like I don’t even need a OD because it sounds like it almost has a OD built in the amp.

I want to mod my 210c and try to fix these issues. I’m an electrician by trade and have lots of soldering experience but I don’t understand these boards and need help. Can anyone help me mod this amp? I just need to know what goes where. Like what resister I need and where to put it. 😂

I’m willing to pay someone a contribution through PayPal to assist me. Thanks.

Try an ecc823 in v1 (v6). It certainly tamed the gain and made the overdrive channel more useable on my JVM205h

I’m willing to give anything a try! Thanks. You just mean like a JJ electronics 12au7/ecc82 tube right?

I’m ordering on right now. Lol

That's how I run mine. Lowers gain in OD Orange and OD Red. OD Green does not change. Also balances the gain when switching between OD Green and OD Orange/Red. Then if you need more hair for a solo just stomp on an overdrive.

Sweet I’m excited to try it out!
Does this help with the noise? Noisiest amp I ever owned.

Does your fx loop bleed sound btw? Mine does and it’s horrible! Lol. So if I turn it up so all the sound is running through the loop it still has a little raw channel running through it. If I use a FX processor it has phase issues. Been considering just eliminating the pot and installing a on/off switch instead. I have no use for blending.

Make sure to order an ECC823 not a standard ECC82. Theyre different in that the 823 is half a 12AX7 and half an AU7. This means it will reduce gain only in the orange and red modes of the amp while the other modes stay the same. An AU7 will reduce all gain in all channels.

There's a huge mod thread here on the forums with lots of awesome mods. Just search for JVM Mods and you will find it.
