Hello all,

Just wondering if someone could give me some advice. I have a Marshal 9000 preamp. The crunch and lead channels seem to be working fine, sound wise, although volume seems severely reduced. There is however, no clean channel. What I get using the clean channel is VERY low volume and distortion. Any ideas? I have a 100 watt Alesis power amp and this thing used to vibrate the floor. I could never turn it up all the way. Now, maximum volume wouldnt wake up a sleeping baby. Doesnt seem to be any issues with the power amp

I see no one has offered an opinion of what’s going on with you preamp, I’m bumping your thread to the top for a fresh start, so to speak. I don’t have an answer to your problem, but have you checked the tubes?

Maybe it's a dirty switch or a bad tube. When was the last time the tubes were changed? You may want to take it to an amp repairer.

I have not, would a burned out tube cause loss of volume and clean channel?

Here is what mine has, all the same pre tubes. Go online and do a search and buy these, or another brand.
