I managed to get an old valvestate 8100 for an absolute steal not long ago, one thing I’ve just been looking for is what footswitch is compatible with it.

I tried a PEDL-9010 with it, however it only works if I switch it to the overdrive channel, and if I hold down on the footswitch. The second I remove my foot off it it switches back to the overdrive channel from the clean. So I’m looking for one that stays on channel when I use it.

I’ve read that the P802 works, but I can barely find it and where I can find one for sale the price is more then I paid for the amp itself.

Is there any other type of Marshall footswitch that works with it? Or a knock off brand that would work fine? I just need something that switches the channels.

You might try a guitar cable or stereo cable (TRS) whichever it takes, and then ground the tip (connect tip to sleeve) and see what happens.

My guess is this amp takes a latching footswitch.

And the switches you have tried are momentary. Or visa versa.

Most of the amps I ever had were compatible for footswitches. Like I recently bought a cheap fender 1 button switch $13 for my Blackstar ht-5 and it worked fine. And the Marshall MA 2 button switch was basically the same as the one Traynor used for their amp,and about the same as the Blackstar, just with an extra button.

I would think the two button ones would be momentary.

But if you have a standard Marshall footswitch and it doesn't work maybe it's latching (needs the switch to stay switched).

The PEDL-90010 might be the modern equivalent.

You could try something like a Boss FS-6.
That one has 2 buttons that can be moment or latched via TRS.
Runs off a battery or PSU though.
