Looks like no one cares about good oldfashioned guitarwankers anymore, huh?
Jimi is the OG wanksta.
I remember being 15 sitting in our old funhouse
to where we came all summer.
We dressed up in vietnamstyle uniforms and
strolled through the woods after drinking green (oftentimes seedy) tee or eating uncertain origin chocolate bars.
Jimi was always playing, the redlights, the Marlboro or Lucky Strike fumes. We always
had the cigpacks in our helmet-bands.
We even painted pictures of Jimi in vietnamuniform on the walls.
Then came the girls and the jobs.
I didnt play guitar back then, but Jimi
is surely the one that got me going!
I watched that the other day, very cool little show! How awesome all those people were, seeing Jimi live in Hawaii on the side of a frickin volcano? That's like Hippie legend type of stuff.
the thing about this Maui concert is, that they did an official movie about it, as a pseudo documentary, "Rainbow Bridge". Recently, I did a little review about a documentary on the documentary. The whole thing was a trainwreck, w/ a couple lucky breaks.
They ended up having to record the drums over, because the original recorders didn't know what they were doing, so Mitch played something totally different, but close enough to make it work.
I'd like to see the whole video from Honolulu, that happened within days of this one.
Those poor fools had no idea what the had witnessed. He was so far ahead of his time. It's like MJ Fox on back to the future.I disagree. Hendrix was precisely on time for his time and place. He was one of the greats of a great era, and he lives on into the "future" because he was/is timeless...
