It's the budget version of the signature.

I played it and thought it sounded good for the money.

So I decided to try and push it with something from when he started using his signature guitar since Smith is a rhythm player.

I am not mad keen on the single coil sound. Not that it isn't okay (but it has the single coil hum), but it seems to me the Fender Murray hot rails one will get you the solos you want. I mean IM is a four-guitarist band!

Even these cheap Jackson humbuckers made it quite well, but I am considering sticking the one from the signature model, a Seymour Duncan TB-4 bridge pickup, or a DiMarzio Super Distortion.

Does anyone else own or try one of these? If you are into Iron Maiden rhythm, give it a go.

Congrats!!! It’s a beauty!!! I’ve always had an eye on that model, the only drawback for me personally is that the neck needs to be removed to do a truss rod adjustment. I’m kinda picky with my setups and tweak them until they are just right. Just to much effort make simple adjustments for me. If they would make one with a truss wheel at the bottom of the neck or a traditional style at the top, I’d have one like yesterday!!!

Man, 2 axes almost gave me GAS for a strat over the years and that original sig was one. I just hate strats for what many appreciate about them… SCs in certain switch positions (likely 2 and 4).

Yeah, it's a strat leaning on the edge of wanting to be a Superstrat. 2 and 4 will get you hum cancelation somewhat but there is no way to hit 2 or 4 on the fly. You either flick 1 or 5 and hope it lands on them.

The fender neck and jumbo frets make it feel a little bit scalloped. The two good things about this are that it sounds like AS/IM on a budget and you don't mind taking screwdrivers to it because its cheap.
