Hi Gang,
I just bought a Marshall 1936v 2 x 12 cab and I understand is 8Ohm mono 16 Ohm Stereo
My existing rig is an H&K head with "8 - 16 Ohm" output.
So its easy to simply connect to the Orange which is 8 Ohm
How can I connect the 1936v AS WELL?

I was hoping to simpy run a second speaker cable Jack to Jack from the Orange to the Marshall. But in mono the Marshall is 8 Ohm
Which I think means a total 6 Ohm impedance which will / could fry the H&K head amp?

two 8 Ohm in parallel is 4 Ohm, not 6..

you could rewire both cabs to 16 ohms, then in parallel it would be 8..but those two cabs sound very different.. pick one and rock on

Thanks. Very helpful. Yes, I know 2 x 8 Ohm in paralellel is 4 its just I am confused the Marshall states its "8 Ohm and 16 Ohm stereo" and the Orange is 8 Ohm. i can only Serial connect IE Head -> Cab -> Cab. And I have no idea what the resultingimpedance would be either for the Marchall cab first and then the Orange or vice versa with the cabs. I'm GUESSING I forget the 16 Ohm stereo fact and the Jacks basically mean its resulting in a serial connection 8 Ohm + 8 Ohm. IN SUMMARY does this mean 16 Ohm result and OK to do (but lower db volume?). Or does it mean if I acheive 4 Ohms it will Fry the H&K head?

You are probably right that the tonals are quite different from both cabs. Not only speaker sound but the Oranfe is Open Back. I bough the Marshall as I understand it will be more bassy, punchy and directional.
Thanks Again

Just get a Marshall head with two 8ohm outputs or one that can be set to 4ohms. You have a perfect excuse to do it. It’s the only solution!
Thanks Chris. Probably! Ive always used either Vox AC30 or my current Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 16W (small but enough for my gigs). I am more alternative rock and pop, some funk with a Telecaster. What Im saying is I never went Marshall amps as I thought too metal. Therefore I dont know the JCM ranges at all. Would you know a JCM or other Marshall that is affordable (I dont need to blow a planet up with the volume) that has 2 x 8 Ohm outputs then?

Either two 8ohm output jacks or one with a 4ohm output selector. I’m more familiar with older stuff. Any JCM800 from the 80’s could run two 8ohm cabs with the selector set to 4ohms. In all seriousness, you probably only need to run one cab at a time anyway, two cabs won’t sound much different than one cab.

This is a parallel connection. Impedance is the same regardless what order they are connected in.
The HnK seems to have a minimum impedance of 8 ohms. So you Cannot run the 8 ohm orange with ANY other cabinet as it will result in lower than 8 ohm total impedance.
Sorry.
Or rewire as indicated.
