As far as I can see, the guitar community is a tad split on the topic of pickups.
Bar the obvious, ie output, single coil v double, P90 etc., I've heard it said that the boutique pickup market is a bit of a 'snake-oil' situation and cheap, well made pickups can sound just as good as pups 5 times the price.
I haven't experimented enough to know if that is the case but I currently do have (cheap) Guitar Fetish pickups in my LP Custom.
Before that, I had the original Gibson pickups and then a Seymour Duncan JB in the bridge.
I've been happy enough with the Guitar Fetish ones, I bought them second hand locally and got them fitted when I was having a re-fret because I wanted to try low output pups, which they are.
Of course, as guitarists, we're never happy so I'm ready to try something new
I was recently clearing out a drawer and I found the Duncan JB along with another pickup I didn't even know I had....
I know it's never been in my guitar and I suspect the guy who did the re-fret gave it to me because he was unable to repair the pickup that had been in the guitar when he was working on the guitar.
I don't remember that specifically though, so it's a odd one.
The reason I'm posting here is, I was wondering if someone might be able to identify the pickup.
The numbers on the back are TB11 0747 ICD10
It's obviously a Seymour Duncan TB11 but do the other numbers have any significance? Is there a way of telling if it's a neck or bridge pickup based on those numbers?
