I was actually going to recommend the Epiphone SG Special, because technically not “Gibson”, and they seem to be great for the money.

Still, that PRS should work just fine too. HNGD!

Did that thread title make sense? OF COURSE NOT.

Basically, I've gone off Gibson. I have a Gibson Les Paul and it's been an absolute turkey of a guitar. Headstock break, electronics failing, neck needing adjustment more often...

It was meant to be my Ferrari guitar but I've had to spend more money on getting it "right" and fixing the damn thing than all my other guitars which were generally around $1200AUD instead of $4000AUD.

I DON'T WANT TO DEBATE THE QUALITY OF GIBSON IN THIS THREAD. I HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE AND IT MADE ME SOUR. END OF DISCUSSION.

However, I want a snarling filthy rock machine. Which means I want P90s. However, I don't want them in a big beefy hollowbody (which I know can absolutely rock the fuck out), I want them in a tight, vaguely threatening, almost weaponised solidbody guitar.

Basically, I want a red SG with P90s.

But I'm not going Gibson ever again unless there's a jaw-droppingly good reason.

SO.

INTERNET NERDS.

What solid-body, P90 guitars exist which rock the fuck out?
Your sg suffered a headstock break on its own? Like you were playing it in your study one day and just *snap* the head stock fell off?

Les Paul.

I did explain what happened later in the thread but kinda yeah. Put the guitar in its stand one night. Came back to play it the next day and the headstock had given way. Luthier reckons that it had recieved a knock at some point, put a hairline fracture in it, and eventually it gave way.

PRS McCarthy 594 Thinline is the best SG I've ever played.
