I got an Eminence Wizard. Local speaker shop suggested it. It’s 75W. So far seems like it’s sounding what I was wanting - vintagey, 70s ish rock (Zep) and early metal (Sabbath).

Needs to break in of course. It’s a little crispy. But the tone is there.

Eminence Wizard sounded good but had an annoying crispyness to it. Upper mid thing I think. Not sure. But it just became grating. Was particularly irritating when I tuned down to C# standard.

I had another V30 - UK 16 ohm. The one that came in this used DSL was an 8 ohm China. The Eminence was also 8 ohm.

I guess I’m just a V30 guy. With the 16 ohm V30 in I’m feeling right at home. No weird frequencies. Smooth. Better mids. Not too boomy on the low end - nice and tight.

Don’t know if 8 vs 16 ohm makes a big difference. But I looked up what ohm V-type came stock (I couldn’t remember as this one came with an 8 ohm V30 - bought used at GC). It is in fact 16 ohm stock. So possibly the amp is better suited to 16 ohm speakers…

I found my Anniversary H30 a bit too crisp too. Today I put my V30 back in over the Gold and I like the V30 better in the DSL. Didn't think I would but it has this nice clear, articulate, plucky thump to it while soloing.
