he's probably signed up for as many forums as amps he's owned so it'll take him a bit to get back around to us.
I’m a long time gear page, lp forums guy. That’s about it. Anything else you need cleared up?

Starting fresh, perhaps on a tighter budget, I see the potential in the amps but really, I am having grave doubts given other user reports that you are going to do better than a 50-100w unit, particularly when attenuation is in play as in the present case In the OP.

I believe someone buying a used SV and decent attenuator can get the goods needed vs paying more for a 1959, but you aren’t getting headroom, the big iron etc., that I would think should make it a better choice, unless viewed strictly from the budget point of view.
I’m not playing arenas. I don’t need 50-100 watters. And with the ability to tweak the Munson curve on the tae, don’t need bigger iron.

There are 2 kinds of buyers of Studio amps, the informed, (particularly with the Vintage) who realize you are going to have the same volume problems as the full size amps, minus the full wattage potential… and the uninformed.

With respect to the informed, the buyer gets a smaller, more portable package. With respect to the uninformed, the buyer gets a rude awakening.

Either way, Marshall made a very successful series and deserves to enjoy the fruits of their labor. The one thing I’d add (like many) would be the 0.1w-1w ability like the 50 anni series to make it friendly to those who want the “execution in reality” to accompany the theoretical benefit of “lunchbox amps.” This of course is a perfect opportunity for a “Studio +” series with the features, or a seperate “Studio micro” that capitalizes strictly in the quiet volume realm, maxing at 1w or 5w.

I think I'm just going to make some popcorn and kick back on this thread. It could get interesting or go nowhere.

I been using Marshall's for 18 years, it wasnt my first amp, I had an old Peavey Bandit(I think) my first Marshall was a 92 MKIII JCM900 and man that thing was flawless, I sold it due to hard times and just part of growing up I guess. But these little guys(studios) are great too! An awesome package in small wattage but powerful. Really gives me the tone Ive been craving from some of the mid/late 80s punk bands(The Freeze, The Middle Class, BR, Circle Jerks) to name a few.. I wouldn't play through anything else, Jim really knew what musicians wanted! 🤘🤙
