Full circle to the Marshall studios

Sv20, Sc20, 2525h, 2203, 2204, Sc20, Badlander, 5150, 2525H again, 2203x, YJM100, DSL20, 1959HW, DSL100, Mark V 25, Mark v 90, JP2C, Savage Blitz, SV20H (again), Diesel Herbert, Dr. Z CA45, Dr.z Z wreck junior ( Still have that, its phenomenal) SLO 30, Friedman JJ jr., 1987x, Bogner Shiva, 2525X, Mesa lone star, Recto Verb 25, Mini Rec, Dual Recs, Mesa Fillmore........

I've owned all these amps in 20 years, not necessarily in this order. Probably forgot some, I am sure I did,. All great in their own way. But I was looking for something I couldn't find. I owned the studios, all three multiple times. I kept thinking what am I doing wrong? I'm not a "bedroom" player or apartment player, I am a hobbyist. Play every night. I don't need to play at tv volumes, I just wanted it to sound great at loud stereo volumes.

I switched form a Bogner 4 x 12 to a Marshall 1960BX with greenbacks.....Then I bought a Boss Waza TAE. Ran an SV20 through it at 5 to 7 or 8. Adjust the tone.... THERE it was. With every cool pedal I own. Same for the SC20H and the 2525H. Sometimes I run the HX stomp through the loop.

Hoping to save someone wasted money on a hunt....someone like me who wants THAT marshall sound from like 1970 to 2000. Lynch, Demartini, Page, Slash,Oliva.... The studios are where its at. All three are perfect through the Waza ( or your preferred good attenuator). The cost of all three is really pretty cheap if you think about it.

Cant wait to find out what Marshall has up their sleeve for the studio line....

Agree—IMO the Studio line is the best thing Marshall has come up with since the DSL. The TAE is pretty amazeballs as well.

I'm sure they'll milk it for all it's worth (can't blame them). I'd bet money they'll have a Studio JTM, which will just be a slightly altered version of the Studio Vintage. A Studio JMP would just be a slightly altered Studio Classic (or Vintage), in different head shell of course, just to seal the deal. In hindsight, they probably should have gone with a different naming convention, Studio SLP, Studio JCM, Studio....

I´ve just sold m SV20, great amp for sure. There's no other way to say it, but attenuators are marshall's best friends. I sold mine because it was a great amp, it was not a a great amp to me and as I own several other amps it was time to let it go.

I run my amps through a Two Notes capture and cab IRs it is the toan of the GODS! to me and it makes me just want to wail for hours on end.
The SV20 is a legit Marshall amp for sure.

I waited a long time for Marshall to make the perfect amp for my needs, so when I learned about the SC20H I bought one right away. One of the best purchases I have ever made!
I'm also glad I bought it when I did since they have gone up astronomically in price since then!

Forgive me for saying. But. If you've owned all those amps in 20 years, and can't find your tone. Hmmmm
Maybe try the first Marshall amp. And in my opinion. The best sounding one.

Welcome to the forum, Scuba200fr! I've been playing since the 70s and have have many amps. Happily, I'm getting some of the best tones of my life with an SC20H into a greenback-loaded 2x12, a 1987x into a Boss Waza TAE into a Greenback-loaded 1960BX and an SV20 into another Boss Waza TAE into a greenback-loaded SV212. I no longer have GAS. At all. Glad you discovered the TAE too. Just flat out fantastic at any volume. For live playing, nothing else I've tried even comes close to the TAE. Loving my setup. All the best to you, brother!

he's probably signed up for as many forums as amps he's owned so it'll take him a bit to get back around to us.

Starting fresh, perhaps on a tighter budget, I see the potential in the amps but really, I am having grave doubts given other user reports that you are going to do better than a 50-100w unit, particularly when attenuation is in play as in the present case In the OP.

I believe someone buying a used SV and decent attenuator can get the goods needed vs paying more for a 1959, but you aren’t getting headroom, the big iron etc., that I would think should make it a better choice, unless viewed strictly from the budget point of view.
