What are the differences for those that don't read schematics too well?
the gain/drive pot is missing the 1nF bright cap that the 2204 would have.
the preamp tubes run from a DC heater circuit, which reduces hum.
the negative feedback is taken from the 16 ohm output instead of the 4 ohm one, this quadruples the amount of negative feedback, making the amp tighter to distort.
and the grid stopper on the output tubes is 1.5k instead of 5.6k which slightly makes the distortion tighter as well.
oh and the 1st 2 nodes in the power supply have 1 50uF cap, instead of 2 50uF which make up 100uF. this makes the sag quicker to respond.

The only positive over a 2204 is the DC heaters essentially then .
