Looking for something I don't remember what.
399 quid at Guitarguitar. Silly cheap price for this gem of an amp.

That's £100 less than I paid for my 40CR soon after release!
I hear the stock speakers may be garbage though.
So any money saved will have to go towards a double speaker upgrade.

Still. I can't justify that purchase now I already have my 40CR 'stack'.

On a curious note. How wide is the chassis/face plate now on a 402?
Is there a headshell to fit that, and get closer to the 40HR there should be in the line-up.

Guitaguitar have great deals , well worth checking them out regularly. I’ve literally just bought a Synergy syn1 plus Friedman BE module package they have going at the moment for £549 . That’s literally giving the module away free , it sounds absolutely epic through my Ori50h into a 4x12 🤘

Oh blowout is the perfect word for it. Because there will definitely be a blowout hauling that thing around.

A sweet amp, I'm sure. But I've had a bunch of 2-12 combos. And there a love em leave em kind of amp. I love they sound they put out, but once I find a spot to them, I leave them there.

It's the same chassis as the regular 40cr. There are blanks either side of the cab front so it fits in the slightly bigger cab without any gaps.
Yes the stock speakers, while not being total crap are not brilliant. Ideal if you have some quality speakers hanging around though.

Who the hell taught this guy to type. This is what you get when you start typing stuff an hour after you woke up, looking at the Marshall forum over coffee, with your guitar in your lap, after you were up till 4am, with a reasonable amount of beer into you. Damn.

Hi all, new here, I just got this amp and the stock speakers sound ok as there are two of them to get enough grunt. However, I couldn't go on knowing that it had these very lightweight units in them so I went and ordered two V types that the 40CR has. It now sound amazing!!! And still cost less that the 40CR. The stock speakers give a nice sizzling high end crunch but the V types give it more guts. I have a JRAD Archer Ikon in front of it and OMG I can't put my guitar down, that crunch you get just makes you melt away into the sound!

I feel like I need a load of cabinets with Alnicos and Cream/green backs etc for when I wake up in different moods every day and just swap over. I do have a short video clip of stock vs V types if anyone is interested.

Hahaha, kids these days!

I gigged a 1971 Fender Super Six Reverb, 100 watt, 100lb, 6-10 combo for 3 years!

Pic is not my amp.

Great,… only the guys on the other side of the pond can even buy these amps!

Which leads my little brain to wonder what are the demographics of the Marshall Forum, how many Brit’s, Aussie’s, US Citizens, (Americans), Europeans, etc.

Just a thought, carry on,…..

Well it is a great deal for those in the UK. As with everything else Marshall, if this amp were to appear on US shores it would cost 1200.00 because all things Marshall cost 300% more in the US than in the UK. If you're not gigging with it (and maybe even if you are) it may be worth the cost to buy a step up transformer to keep you from being robbed.

You have all got this amp wrong.
You are too quick to judge.
It is that good I have bought two.
it is 23 Kilos (Lighter than my Fender 1x12 deluxe)
The speakers are really good.
Some things are too good to be true and this is an example.

Had 2 delivered today so I’m looking forward to running them in. Honestly, the deal on these from GuitarGuitar is way too good to pass up, imho.

Hello Chandler,

I would be interested to hear some sound clips, stock vs V types. I have just purchased this amp.

Thank you

Hello all,

I purchased this amp a week or so ago.

I was hoping I could get some tones similar to Ben Funk in this video:

No such luck. However, the tones I have been getting aren't bad, but just not what I'd hoped. It is still early days with the amp and I am still experimenting with the amp.

The general consensus seems to be that the single speaker version of this amp needs to be cranked to get that tone in the video above. So I assume, this 2x12 will perform more to my liking at volume.

Amp is quite fizzy at lower volume. Turning the treble to 0 helps though.

Someone commented this: 'I recently tried the TC Electronic Spark Booster in the front (on fat setting) to push it a bit more, and it has my amp crushing some great tones on 20W mode at lower volumes.' - Looking forward to trying that. I have a TC Spark.
