What screen print would the Japanese Mullard use?
Its still possible the tubes were rescreen printed and stuffed in new Mullard boxs to scam folks.

They typically have a Japanese brand name on them, like Teonex, Matsushita, Toshiba...

When looking in my tube stash, there are few other difficult to identify tubes, that look like Mullard, but without etched codes. I have them with Brimar labels, and Mazda BVA. Also suspected to be made in Japan.

More than 80% of pictures are not even focused on the tube. I give up
That’s what I was thinking. The mica has the Mullard notch out in the center of the plate. The plates look Mullard. It could be
yeah, not having a camera w/ macro abilities makes it tough to do close-ups. Learning lighting helps a bit too, but, this being a guitar tech group, not photography, well...

The close ups are important to figuring out what these things are and I get it if they’re unable to capture details but it’s impossible to distinguish what they have without the details. Small talk about screening means nothing because the internals and etch codes are what really reveals the origin.

at least for me, its hard to precisely capture subtle details of small components inclosed inside of shinny glass, thats why i made a close up video before, i thought maybe one could pause at the better angles and see the details without getting dizzy, but that also did not work, so its probably impractical to make this type of analysis through this type of approach.

anyway, if the guts are what matters, i remembered i have the broken one available for autopsy, maybe without the glass it gets crisp to see, or maybe not... theres no etched code whatsoever as said

but being a mullard, a fake or whatever, the tube sounds actually quite good, so if the pics still dont help and its not possible to tell its real origin its ok, it does not matter really much, if it sounds good its good and i can live with this unanswered question. the truth might set us free, but sometimes we can live with blind acceptance, specially when its comfortable and convenient

That looks like a Japanese tube to me . The label does not look correct for even a reprint Mullard label. Regardless of print the inside reminds me of a Japanese 12ax7.

I just found a small little stash of different types of them but they are labeled with the different Japanese names.

Just what I think about it. Hard to tell for Me certainly . The previous posters do know a lot about tubes and they know there stuff.

They made different looking types along with the one mentioned with the 45 degree thing. I have a bunch of different looking types. Some look more Mullard type than others .

They can sound great but different than the Mullards I have . Then again different Mullard sound different from each other From same time frame. The Japanese tube can be great sometimes mixed with other makes in different spots . Stingray 85 and the other have all great info and knowledge with tube makes.
