Couldn't agree more! The combo is a rock machine. Tele, Strat, ES335, you name it. With the 5/20 Watt settings you can run the power amp at 95 per cent in any situation making the thing ROOOOCK!! Not enough? Add a clean boost like an MXR micro amp and incinerate those EL34s!

I use a Spark boost as a clean boost, works great

Quick addition to the issues mentioned before: I had the small board (carrying the pots) of my 2525C resoldered by my trusted amp tech after the "thin-sound phenomenon" came back randomly. Of course this has voided my guarantee with Marshall but there was no way for me to ship the amp places. Looks like cold solder joints are a sore spot with some 2525s.

OK, not trying to be a smart-ass, but after plowing through amps, any thought that it could be your guitar? Either the strat in general, or your specific one? Here's what I would do. First, find a friend that can play. Grab him and go to guitar center, or the best place in your area. Take your guitar and plug into everything in sight, and grab the sales folks too and tell them what you want. Have your friend play, and you do nothing but listen, and dial in the amp. If you find the tone, you're set. If not, grab something totally different off the wall and try that. Grab a tele, an LP, a firebird and work them out. Don't forget to buy your buddy a few beers on the way home.

One other thought, while you are out, plug into a couple of REALLY good boutique amps. Handwired Marshalls, Boogies, whatever. It might be easier to find the tone you want that way, and if you don't have the wallet for it, that gives you a place to start and then you can find advice on "How to a get a Boogie dual rectifier sound on a budget".

Hey folks, thanks a million for all the input. Amp is now singing. It seems to get better every time I plug in. The harshness is almost completely gone. The clean channel sounds great and with the rhythm clip engaged I get a fantastic driven blues sound using my Texas special equipped strat. Next is to try and get a great lead sound at somewhat of a reasonable volume. But I’m thrilled with the results so far.
Cheers.

Welcome to the forum,…….

As Mitch mentioned this thread is 4 years old, besides that your advice is on a Dsl40cr, the op is asking about a Studio Jubilee. :)

Not sure what you are looking for in terms of "a good lead tone". I've played several Jubies and was always able to find something workable - and without pedals!!! That said, I don't own one. When it comes to hard rock/metal I'm into the Mojotone JCM800 clone ( with mods ) and well broken in Greenbacks. I can't think of a TUBE amp that I couldn't find a good "lead tone". While it may not be my "favorite" tone, always found a way to rock the house. The ugliest amp I have used ( and still own) is a Peavey Classic 50 4x10. I think a better set of speakers would fix that thing but with the Marshall cab and Mojo clone head, I haven't bothered. Small venues I use a Vox AC-15. The amps I have just mentioned have markedly different voices, yet there's ALWAYS tone. Truth be told - the tone is in your hands, and not the hardware..... :)
