Looking at the different switchers. Wondering what others may be using. Hate to spend $1000. on a midi switcher, when I don't use midi pedals.
Have been researching, still haven't made up my mind.
My old board has the Carl Martin Combinator2. I like everything about it, except the size.

I've been using a joyo plx-live 8 loop switcher for years. Mine is older has 2 trigger outs and midi out. Current doesn't support midi but as 4 trigger outs. Reasonable price, small footprint. Haven't had any issues with it.

Thanks, was just reviewing these this weekend. How often do you move it? Smokey bars (becoming a thing of the past) Outside on dirty stages? Load in, Load out, In car? Packed in trailer?

I can't input on how rugged these are, I haven't gigged in a long time. I do miss that ;) Probably best to get reviews from those that gig. It's mounted stable on the boards I have another on the dirt side. I've seen reviews of the jacks having issues, delicate etc. I haven't had an issue with them. I know it's a massive build but it's static. I never have more than 4 or 5 pedals active in the chain.

Wow, haven't seen one of those Tube Drivers in a really long time. Had one on my board in the late 80's.
I went with a used One Control Crocodile Tail Loop OC-10. $350. on Reverb. Both shorter and narrower than the Carl Martin.
Now will need a Power supply. Leaning towards Cioks system.
Looking at boards Sizes are a concern. I like the compact footprint of the tiered boards Just not crazy about height. Temple's Trio28 would be both shorter and narrower and lighter, than my current Trailer Trash board. And also leave me room to spend a bit more money.
Like the idea of the soft case. But not sure if the soft case will handle the weight of a full board.
I could carry in my Trailer Trash 18x30 case. But what If I want to move both boards on same day?
Building this board as a lighter, more mobile option. But afraid I have been spoiled by a larger board.
This one is already a downsized version of my big Acoustic/Electric board.

Have been accumulating pedals and am getting close.
I guess you could say I like a Blues based sound.
Very seldom turn on my Reverb. Will probably leave Reverb off the new board altogether.
Reverb can easily make live tones, mush.
In the studio, I tend to add Reverb sparingly in post.
Sometimes you may want to add a bit of Reverb to the total mix,
If you already have reverb on the guitar, There goes mush again.
As you can see, I'm a big advocate for Carl Martin.
I don't want to sound like every other yahoo that shops at GC or Sweetwater.
I'm an old guy, who knows the value of a cranked tube amp living in the same room as the guitar.
I also know, the tones you hear on Youtube video clips is not a true representation of what an amp or pedal sound like.
I have no desire for cellphone volumes. If an amp is too loud for the venue. I can stay home.
I remember the days, back before cellphones and internet, when you could hear what a "good" band was playing, in any given venue, from the street.

Girls Guitars and Golf?
Girls were what guitars used to get me. On a regular basis.
Golf was an expensive pastime that took up too much of my playing time, and my guitar buying power.
Guitars have been the only constant in my life since 1975.
Gave up quite allot, in the past, to hone my guitar playing craft.
Saw a girl I wanted very much to get next to at the grocery store, the other day.
Then I caught site of myself in the glass at the butcher counter.
And realized, I could be her grandpa.
Moral to the story. If you stop looking in mirrors. You'll be forever young.
