I agree at times they can be annoyingly noisy. But it's not the single coil's fault if the electricity and wiring are crappy - fix the wiring and play the damn Tele.
i Wish I could COMPLETELY agree - but can't. I've been in clubs with ceiling fans, neon lights, dimmer switches yada yada.... where there's just no way to kill the noise (not just the Tele/Strat but pedal steel as well) yet you have ZERO control over the source. "Humbucking" ( hum -cancelling windings) have an up and down side. Up side is their hum-cancelling character. Down (might be) that they're really fat sounding and in most cases (due to the extra windings) is that the high frequency rolls off. That in and of itself can be a welcome thing, if you're plugged into a JCM-800 or similar ilk. Or it may not. I go pretty transparently between hard rock/metal to blues/ jazz/ country and could probably fill a web page just talking about it. Nuff said..... Love my Tele's when playing in that venue. Hate having to jump on the volume control because of the dimmers and neon lights......

Yep......Telecaster. Watched a documentary called Songbirds about a music museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee and one of the people interviewed said something to the the effect of "Leo got it right the first time", noting how Gibson's Les Paul took 4-5 revisions and about 6 years to become what we now have as a Les Paul. The Telecaster needed no revisions...........it was divine from the get go. Simple, clean and effective. Absolutely my favorite instrument........

Whack! Hit me in the head with a Fender Telecaster!

J/K don't really do it!!!
They do have a unique voice, and if I'm the "Country" mode, singing Vince Gill classics and trying to emulate Vince's, Jeff Burton's, Albert Lee's (etc) picking, it's a slam-dunk! (best as I can anyway) it's an absolutely appropriate voice for country music for sure. If I'm trying to emulate Doug Aldrich / Dio stuff however, a Telecaster just won't do (for me)

Time and place for everything

I was floored to discover how well a Tele covers the sounds from Billy Gibbons, only to read a little later about how much of his most popular stuff was actually done with an Esquire, single pickup Tele!
Yeah, Teles Rule!

I have a Tele copy with active EMG's, in some ways better than a Tele. But it can't do Tele like my original.

I’m defenitly a les Paul guy (I have 3, a deluxe, a standard and a custom). But I could not resist the Page Dragon Tele for the good looks, ambience factor and how good it plays, like butter. But soon the noise started to irritate me. I solved this though by replacing the bridge pick up, with a Dimarzio Chopper T, which is a humbucker. So now I have reached Nirvana having the best of worlds, my Tele sounds as heavy and looks as good as my les pauls 🙂

I dont have a Telecaster. However, I do own a 70th anniversary Esquire. That guitar is fabulous.

Finally built one after all these years… Fender Player body and PUs, black pickguard, Fender roasted maple c-shaped neck w/ 12” radius, and American Vintage Hot Rod Bridge. First thing I played was the intro to Lonely is the Night and It was glorious! The tele bridge PU puts the Strat bridge PU shame! IMG_0708.jpeg
