It's unproven, but still a mathematical probability. What a waste of space if Earth is the only planet that supports life. Billions of stars in this galaxy alone, then you have billions of other galaxies with billions of stars.

Even if there is life elsewhere, it is likely not close by and wouldn't make anything we have here less special...and it wouldn't change my more philisophical beliefs either - in fact it would reafirm what I already believe.
