Anyone know how good the 1995 Reissue 2203 are? Do they sound like the 80's
Which part of the 80's are they reissue of? Im guessing after 84..
Are the internals the same or did they change it?

If you had to choose from the above and a stock 2204 1983 all stock same price but 2203 95 is a full stack and 2204 just a head? what do you do

I don't know about '95 internal parts but I guess it's a good one 2203. I'd buy It. A full stack rocks!

Why the 2204
2204s have not been made since 1990 and consequently, there are far fewer. 1983 makes it more desirable to many than most later 2204s. Black > Red and never clashes with other shit unlike the latter.

Why the 2203*
2203s can essentially become 2204s by pulling 2 tubes if desired, whereas the reverse is impossible. A Full Stack (one head and two cabs) is an insane price difference between the two, particularly a pair of 1960s with decent speakers. It’s a significant enough difference as a half-stack vs head, but full stack 1960s makes it a no-brainer. In terms of pure collectability (rarity), a 1990s- era 2203 is rarer than 2204s by far.

* The way this is written leads me to assume you might be misstating a few things. I have a feeling you/seller may be misconstruing a head + one cab to be a ”full stack” (seller put me on a serious fucking wild goose chase w this years ago). Further, the 1990s 2203s were a Guitar Center Limited reissue for 1997. You/the seller may still be 100% accurate on this anomalous set as an oddball custom/promo, but the two statements together strongly suggests to me incorrect info. Assuming the deal is a 1997 GC Reissue “half stack,” I still find it a more persuasive bargain: even if it is…red.

Well i made my choice..
@V-man i indeed did get things mixed up. The 1995 JCM 800 2203 Limited Red Tolex was only half stack. Apparently 300 World wide..
But there is ONE video about them on youtube from a studio in the UK claims 200 only...
See new thread... for what i got...

But if you do happen to know more about the 1995 2203 please share.

"Does it sound like the JCM800s of the 80's" is a tough question because those amps are wildly inconsistent.

But yes, the reissues do sound like a good 2203 should.

Between 2203 and 2204, they sound different. The 2204 is smoother and more mid centric and the 2203 is wider and tighter. So it's a matter of personal preference. The difference is not just volume. Actually volume is very close between the 2. But the 2203 sounds bigger and the 2204 sounds more focused.
