Yeah check the speakers. It could be a case of the same ones you have now, but in a great room for sound eh?

Just a bit more to add. The G12-65 have paper voice coils and the vented 75s have kapton voice coils, hence the 10 more watts of power handling.

They are the same speaker other than what I just mentioned.

Would the kaptonformer make the speaker
more bright?

I have the feeling that my venty G12T-75 are
rather on the bright side, "airy" comes to mind
when i play this cab.

The 12-65 have more a rolled off top, atleast
that seems to be the most constant when
doing net research.

Never had a 12-65 unfortunately.

I don’t know, I haven’t herd any 65s (yet)
I want some for these cabs. The tags say 260w bought them empty. 230D9CBF-7C46-474C-AF8C-1F4CEC982CD6.jpeg

One of the best cabs ever made. I owned an early ‘80s Marshall 1936 JCM800 cab with G12-65’s. Such a great sounding cab.

do the vents make a tangible difference or is it a type of cork-sniffing? (coming to a desired conclusion that is just theoretical)

Is blue the best color is just as easy a question to answer as that one.

that's my point. maybe the vent screen is just for debris. since there are cut-outs in the frame, does the vent actually make a temperature difference. I mean, if somebody actually measured it, that would be good evidence, and if the difference was 1-degree, would that even matter?

I think someone already mentioned the difference is the voice coil form material... the vent seems to track with that change. either way, 1980s 65s and the 75s are both fine speakers, each having their own character but quite good with cranked JCM800s.

I’m very happy with mine — ‘81 or ‘82 cab with G12-65s dated later ‘81. Got it last week.
