From what I've read, the SLP's (reissues) weren't necessarily based on certain years, but used components based on some excellent sounding amps that Marshall auditioned. The specs turned out to be more in line with the 70's 1959's rather than the late 60's. This is all internet jargon from doing a ton of reading about the SLP model, and I could be (and most likely am) completely wrong. If you do enough reading, you'll find plenty of folks who poo poo on the SLP's, but the one I have sounds fantastic, and that's all that matters.
