I think some of the first Marshall cabs to get the 6402 cone greenbacks were the 1960TV cabs in the late 80's. That's the best place to look for them, if you can find an early one. I have seen them for sale a few times in the past and passed on them. Now they will probably go up in price.

Still available. Can ship worldwide. Make me an offer.
If anyone is interested, I recently did a tone comparison with these speakers in a 4x12 just for my own amusement / curiosity, against some other G12S model speakers. The others were: Rola Pulsonic 1972 T1417 (75Hz), 1968 Pulsonic Pre-Rola...
I think you're over thinking it mate, like I was when I first saw it. I now realise it is almost certainly a Music Ground cab. They used to make their own cabs, take parts from genuine cabs etc, make lash-ups.
Here is the photo the seller sent to me with the repro brown pinstripe that was on...
I need to look more closely in future. That one almost convinced me. I'm 99.9% sure now it is just someones poor attempt to make a 1966 cab. Either by using parts from a 69 cab, or by building one to the same spec as a 69 cab.
The seller sent me a photo of the cab with the original repro brown...
Just got some info from the seller that has made me change my mind about it. Probably a lash-up. Not sure how they've done it exactly, but it previously had a 'reproduction brown pinstripe' grill on it. Say no more...
I've sent the seller a message asking for more info about what was on the baffle before he installed the Eric Collins. I'm not holding my breath waiting for a reply, but it would be really interested to see any 'before' photos of the baffle. a) to see the logo holes and b) to see what grill was...
Although the logo position would probably suggest it is a late 65/ early 66 cab that has been regrilled. In 68 or 69 they would have put the script logo on the fold line, assuming Marshall themselves did it and not his guitar tech or someone.
It's not unthinkable they made one. I've never seen one before either, but that one just looks legit to me. Would be uber rare if it's right.
I have a lead on a really nice spare basketweave slant baffle too with original logo, it would slot nicely into that.
There are pics floating about of...
No, because even in 67 the wooden strips on the bottom rear inside are not that wide. They made them like that to accomodate the castor tubes, which only came in mid 67 with the metal handle cabs.
It really looks like a legit early 1970 strap handle cab to me. Serial, tolex, and woodwork all...
I can't get my head around this one. Is it possible they made a strap handle cab in 69 or early 1970? Custom build perhaps? Any thoughts? Suspect the 2 Feb 1970 speakers might be original (to the baffle anyway)...
Looks like someone has bought the 2x12 on reverb
His other sold listings include a 1957 Goldtop for over 116k (GBP), and a 1958 Fender Strat for 47k (GBP).
That's a good point someone raised, where is this stuff coming from? The Marshall's appear to be old music ground stuff...
Good shout. I have reported the 2x12 on Ebay. We should all do our bit and report this guy on Ebay and Reverb. Usually they wont do anything if one person reports it, but if 5 or 6 of us do it then they might listen.
Cool photos. I think there's a video of that knocking about somehwere, not the same quality as those pics though. I wonder if those amps are still sat in someones house somewhere?
T1217 actually goes as far back as late 1965 with the gold / red Rola Thames Ditton labels. Selmer used them. That's not the problem. The main red flag for me is that Marshall did not use the T1217. So a quad of T1217 in a 4x12 with white Marshall labels on the back is taking the p*** for a...
